agree with what chocolatequeen said lower down-- what's the deal about having these mega million pound parties to toss sleb spare change at kids in developing countries? I know they do raise a lot of money, and I'm trying to tell myself that's all that matters, but it is vastly, obscenely, horrifically ironic the way in which they choose to do it. All those pouty women stalking in and saying who their dresses were mde by... bleugh bleugh bleugh. They could stay at home and give the cost of the couture monstrosity to charity instead.

(mind you, would have done us plebs out of an evening of good telly if they had, I suppose...)

Most of a the gowns on the most famous slebs were gifted for promo, its what happens when you get that famous.
Lots of free stuff for big nights

yes I think that often they do say who the dress is by because they get them free/lent to them in return for the publicity

but it's true, yes it raises money but lots is also spent on the shindig and so it seems quite obscene. however, lots of charidees get involved in parties/pro-celeb football etc. - my friend works for a very famous charity and says it's the best way to get slebs involved and get some real high profile publicity etc. Plus there are lot of rich people who give money anonymously as well.

however annoying the rent-a-sleb thing is it does work out quite nicely for the charities in the end and I think they're quite glad to put up with the nauseating wittering of their pet slebs

My DDs used to wait on at a very upmarket country hotel and they wore floor-length black aprons, over blue men's shirts and black trousers. They looked v cool actually!

Don't you think if all those Slebs realy wanted to give large sums of money to charity, then they could have done so without all the stupidly expensive wining & dining paid for by the Becks or would it be that if they just handed it over,no one else would know that they have given that much ?????

VB really annoys me until she is interviewed, she comes across quite normal and funny. I liked her dress, and she did say she could direct the car parking in it.

Also all the money the mags pay for pics would make thousands for the charity too.
