Does anyone watch this?

I've recently started season 1 and I'm on about episode 9. I love it, the characters are great, plot is good, great lines and scripts....however Bo REALLY irritates me! Has anyone else ever had a show they really like but they can't stand the main character?

Her overt sexuality has become boring, and I find the sex scenes etc gratuitous and pointless. I get that she's a succubus and she feeds off it, and I really am no prude, but I feel it would be so much better without as much of that. It's good enough without having to show boobs to get ratings.

Maybe I'm being silly. I LOVE Kenzie though, she's feisty!

It gets more plot driven and less gratuitous later on...I mean it's still fairly heavy on the sex scenes, but I think they were going for shock value with the first series, like a lot of things do.

I don't mind Bo, I find Kenzie irritating though, lol, she's a bit overboard with the feisty.

I hope so...I do really like it. A lot of the characters are really deep and interesting. I love Trick especially, I'm at the point where we're just starting to see there's a lot more to him than meets the eye.

I mean, like I said, I'm really not a prude. I don't mind full on sex scenes if they're to do with the plot, or nicely done...it just does seem very superfluous a lot of the time. I also got rather annoyed that her and Dyson (sp?) got it on so quickly...I was hoping they'd drag it out a bit more. I'm not convinced by their chemistry at all.

Oh I like Kenzie's feistiness Grin

I actually love this, and I adore Kenzie.

It passes the Bechdel test in spades.

Not that that makes it a powerhouse of feminist ideals Wink.

tabulahrasa · 07/06/2013 22:11

Ah it's not too bad, lots of fairly good strong women characters at least...even if the main character literally gets power from sex.

Overall I like it - I just wish sometimes they'd rein it in a bit with Kenzie.

Oh and don't worry, Bo and Dyson is nowhere near as simple as it starts out being.

ScarletLady02 · 08/06/2013 08:03

Hehe, fair play. It does have good strong characters, that's one of the things I love about it.

I'm glad about Bo and Dyson, I love him and want him to be more than just Bo's love interest.

I watched and enjoyed the first series. I struggled a bit with the second series but it came good at the end.

I liked Bo but found the 'oh look at me and how sexy I am' every week a bit tiresome.

MalenkyRusskyDrakonchik · 10/06/2013 20:28

I liked the first couple of series but once it changed networks I went right off it, TBH.

ScarletLady02 · 11/06/2013 08:24

OK, so I've started the second series and the first couple of episodes have been great! It seems to be really picking up.

Quick question....is it made clear by this point just how old Bo is? I mean, Fae seem to be hundreds of years old and it doesn't seem to be talked about just how long she's been around. I have an idea who her Dad might be but for it to be true she'd have to be a few hundred years old (like Dyson etc)

No spoilers, I just wondered if I'd missed something, or if it's explained later on.

I THINK that she is as old as she looks, because she was brought up with human parents so the timeline woudl have to be roughly right.

Can't say much else because I can't remember where you're at, but you do find out lots more about her parentage as it goes along.

tabulahrasa · 11/06/2013 08:32

She's not old, she's just been around normal human time.

ScarletLady02 · 11/06/2013 18:36

That's what I thought....I just thought it was weird how everyone goes on about her Mum being missing for hundreds of years but then they obviously knew she was about when Bo was born (30 odd years ago). I know the elders etc don't know much, but Trick knows a LOT more than he's letting on.

I'm sure it will all be explained. I'm loving series two so far Grin

I can't remember what happens where so being really vague.

Bo's mum is missing for a very very long time, at the end of that long time she becomes pregnant...partly because she is pregnant, she becomes unmissing, has Bo and leaves her.
