Hello,

We might be moving back to the UK after many years abroad and I don't want DCs to have access to the crap TV they watch here. So, what will I be able to watch if I pay for nothing other than a TV licence?

TIA

If you buy a tv with built in free view or free sat ( depending on your area), you get loads of channels, for free. No Disney etc, but cbbc, pop girl etc

Yes, freeview will give you the basic channels.

Have a look at YouView - its freeview and you just pay for the box, but you can record and rewind and it gives you access to on demand things like the iplayer and 4od

be aware that some services (I believe this includes Youview) use broadband data allowance, so you would also need unlimited broadband.

there's enough available on Freeview to keep everybody amused and informed. BBC4 is now what BBC2 used to be, with the documentaries. A new TV with inbuilt digital (as they all have) will be plenty. You may also want a recorder box for timeshifting, and to watch the stuff on the commercial channels by whizzing through the ads.
