When Carol and Bianca Jackson had a heart to heart about the affair Bianca had with Dan, Carol's boyfriend.

Brilliantly acted.

The Blake and Meg story line in Home and Away has to be up there with the saddest ones. I cried for days as a hormonal teenager!

minniedriver · 17/05/2013 20:41

Barry Grant Brookside circa `1983/84
The sole reason I went to Liverpool university

I agree about Blake and Meg in Home and Away. I also cried loads when Bobby died and also when Sophie's boyfriend David died.

Home and Away was fab!

There was a lot of death in Home and Away! I was just thinking about when Shane died

Caoilainn · 17/05/2013 20:53

'You ain't my muvvva'. Shock Bloody Uncle Harry!
Not watched soaps for years now but that stood out!
Also patio burial, even though it wasn't a soap I watched, more media stuff I remember.

Mosschops30 · 17/05/2013 20:54

Ooh loved Barry Grant! Brookside was amazing back in the day with Sheila and Bobby, Damon, Terry, jimmy, max and Patricia Grin

Lizzylou · 17/05/2013 20:56

You cant beat the memories of the Brookie bad perm.

They did the spin off Damon and Debbie. All of us girls cried together at school when Damon got stabbed.

Its ruined my memories when i see him on that house programme he presents in the mornings!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 17/05/2013 21:47

I worked for 'Damon Grant' for a little while. He was lush.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/05/2013 22:35

I was saying to DH t'other day that Brookie did storylines sooo well.

(He was Hmm as in "I have no idea what you are blethering on about ,Wife" )

When the Nanny had outstayed her visa and Terry was trying to keep her in the UK. There was a very long, intricately woven story with Barry Grant offering to marry her but she'd need to have a child with him.

Eastenders: Phil calls in at a service station. Meets Nadia. "I need to stay in the UK."
"OK we'll get married".
Done.

The story of Rachel Jordasche, Mike Dixon, the baby and the loan sharks.
Others soaps it's : Wake Up. I'm skint. Loan sharks.

Jackie Dixon + Max & Suzannas surrogate.

Corrie "I want to find a surrogate"
"I'll do it"
"OK"

Brookie was ahead of it's time.

So glad that Brookside is being mentioned very favourably on here. I used to love it, it was so good and they did some cracking storylines really well. Remember when Sheila Grant was raped? That was so hard hitting at the time and it was handled incredibly well. Also the Trevor Jordache abuse storyline when Mandy ended up killing him etc. I really want to see Brookside repeated. Yes it did go pretty crap towards the end there but for a while it was absolutely cracking!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 19/05/2013 11:59

Just saw Jacqui Dixon on Hollyoaks while channel hopping - remember the immense storyline about her wanting 'new trainees'

Chipstick10 · 19/05/2013 16:00

When bianca was coming on to the gorgeous Michael French Aka david wickes and he shouted at her "I'm your father". I've read he's in talks with scriptwriters about a possible come back. Please god make this true, I luffs him totally.

maryquant · 19/05/2013 19:15

I wish on of the satellite channels would reshow Brookside.
Heather Haversham and her 2cv
Sheila and Bobby
The wonderful Barry Damon and 'our Karen'
The gangster story lines
Harry Cross and Mick Jackson
Billy Corkhill going loco over his 'Doe' and her affair with the dentist
The siege where one of the nurses was shot.
Used to love the Saturday omnibus takes me right back to my uni years.

wintera · 19/05/2013 20:37

I used to love the Saturday omnibus as well. My mum always cooked a chicken curry on a Saturday for tea and would serve it with rice and chips and loads of buttered bread. Every time I think of Brookside I also think of my Mum's chicken curry! Without fail!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/05/2013 21:11

For me, Saturday Brookside Omnibus was spent putting on my make-up (yes it took that long to do Grin ) after a shower and hairwash before going out,

Aaaah, those were the days........................
