This is a thread for all fans of the weekday third rate soap Doctors. BBC1, 1.45pm.

I know in the last thread I said it was a second rate soap, but I've downgraded it to third rate given the recent lack of WTF storylines. Come on scriptwriters, stop being so seri-arse!

Regulars: The lovely Mrs T has her bob wig on and is waiting to sign you at the desk.
Newbies: All welcome. Join in the banter, ask any questions, we have verrrrrrrrry many experts on this thread. Smile

Oh, and a small favour to ask. Can someone kill Emma off please? Fankyouverymuch Grin

Are you sure that wasn't the spoiler for another programme, MsNo? Shock

Oodsigma · 18/05/2013 15:01

I'm going with parrots. Mrs T & TBFE trying to clear the campus surgery of a flock of parrots while Jimmi remembers he has OCD and tries to scrub the place clean.

euRaahhvision · 18/05/2013 15:16

Ood- that is a wtf scenario that could actually happen.Grin

after all, this is the programme that has given us handbags, handbags with frogspawn, and bleached fishGrin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/05/2013 16:18

Ood are you a Doctors scriptwriter? That sounds entirely plausible.

Raahh - I love love love your Eurovision nickname! I love Eurovision. Very excited about tonight!

euRaahhvision · 18/05/2013 16:21

Anne- I love eurovision. Although I am not drinking, so i might not enjoy it as much as usualGrin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/05/2013 16:24

My turn to get up tomorrow, so expecting a 5.30am start (the joys of a 4 yo) so I had better not drink either. Still, I think watching Eurovision is like taking drugs anyway.

euRaahhvision · 18/05/2013 16:29

It's brilliant fun- some of the acts look seriously potty, which is always good.

I sympathise with the getting up- dd2 thinks 5am is morning, and since I can't sleep properly due to dh's snoring, I'm usually knackeredGrin

Oodsigma · 19/05/2013 08:48

How about Jizz-Al and Kevin's red trousers form a band and enter Eurovision. Could go for a guest appearance of Scott Mills ( Graham would be too expensive)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2013 08:56

Planning to try and catch up a couple of episodes today. DCs are still asleep as they stayed up watching Eurovision with DH (DS watched the whole thing, DD watched the first 15 mins and left the room with me but wanted to see the results). I tried to watch it, DH loves it and I always feel a bit mean because I can't get into it at all, but I just can't do it, it makes me all stabby.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/05/2013 10:11

Oh it was a good one last night! I stayed up til the end and DD was her usual punctual 5.30am self, so I am knackered now.

Thought it was very odd that they announced the winner before the voting was complete. Thought the Danish song was very ordinary, but I suppose bland is what has mass appeal.

I did like the bloke in the box - very WTF. Greece were very funny - although I suspect if they had won we would have had to hold the contest for them as they could never have afforded it!

Is anyone here a fan of Everybody Loves Raymond? I thought the Icelandic singer looked a dead ringer for Amy's brother!

I think Sweden did very well at hosting - the presenter was funny and I loved the piss-taking with the Swedish Smorgasbord song! Dancing meatballs! It made me really like Sweden, they seem very like us.

euRaahhvision · 19/05/2013 13:43

I enjoyed Eurovision very much- but yes, the strange premature announcement was very WTF? . Thought the host was great- quite sarcastic and funny, especially when trying to get the scores out of the waffling jury heads. And I find the voting for their BFF's funny- thoughsome people get really riled about it all.

I learnt Swedish during my first year at university- one of my tutors was very like the host- very dry sense of humour, and spent all the lectures chewing tobacco. She was quite nuts.

Poor Bonnie. She wasn't great, but I was quite surprised at how badly Ireland did-it was on last, and was a cheesy pop song. What's not to like?

It was the soap awards last night- not sure when they are televised- I bet Doctors didn't win anything. It's as big a fix as EurovisionGrin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/05/2013 14:58

Am very impressed you can speak Swedish, Raahh!

Yes, I was amazed Ireland did so badly. They are normally popular.

As for the soap awards, well I haven't seen any results, but I imagine you are right. If Doctors won anything I would be astonished.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2013 15:07

Corrie cleaned up at the Soap Awards, Smile, EE only got a lifetime achievement for Ian Beale, Doctors came nowhere Sad.

Raahh- I have an English friend who speaks Swedish, we went to Sweden together once and the Swedes simply couldn't believe it, very rare for English people to speak Swedish.

MsNobodyAgain · 19/05/2013 16:04

No need to show my arse on the Town Hall steps then. Phew!

I wouldn't say I'm very good at Swedish- and it was a long time agoGrinIt was a strange course- at least 2 people on it were SwedishHmmBut my main degree was in English lit- for some reason we had to do 2 unrelated subjects in our first year. I ended up with a choice of Swedish or Welsh!(in retrospect, Welsh would have been more useful, being a Welsh university and all!)

Grrr@ the soap awards- I don't watch Corrie. Haven't done for years.
Doctors was robbed. Why bother with the awards when only the main 2 soaps ever win anything? Angry

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2013 16:16

EE did only win one this year, apart from Corrie it was all Hollyoaks and Emmerdale. I'm just glad to see EE getting toppled because it's awful. Haven't watched Hollyoaks ever or Emmerdale for years, but I do love Corrie.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/05/2013 17:04

Your town breathes a sigh of relief, MsN. Grin

MsNobodyAgain · 19/05/2013 18:27

I bet it has Anne Grin

EE must be bad because my mum has given up watching it and she is a soap addict - apart from "those with all the young 'uns in them". This is usually said while she hoiks her bosom Les Dawson style.

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 19/05/2013 19:53

I'm not a Eurovision fan, my mum always watches.

Shame about soap awards but not surprising!

bellabelly · 19/05/2013 20:04

Ooh, the soap awards is just starting on itv but thanks to this thread I no longer feel the need to watch it! Was just tuning in to see if Doctors had won anything - well, miracles can happen... Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2013 20:11

Sorry if I spoiled it (Soap Awards) for anyone, didn't know it was on tonight.

bellabelly · 19/05/2013 20:33

WhoKnows - not spoiled it at all, now I feel free to channel-surf though sadly haven't found anything more interesting yet!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/05/2013 20:52

I highly recommend Once upon a time at 8 on a Sunday on channel 5. I record it and watch it during the day as dh doesn't like it at all.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/05/2013 21:05

Case Histories on BBC1. Loved the last series, recording this one as I missed the beginning putting the DCs to bed. Just catching a bit of the soap awards now.

MsNobodyAgain · 20/05/2013 13:45

I am so tired I can't decide whether to watch Doctors or get my head down for half and hour.

Mind you, it could be that boring that I'll nod off anyway.
