Hannibal anyone?

It will take a lot for anything to fill my 10pm Tuesday slot recently vacated by the following - but this is looking promising so far.

Anyone else?

I'm actually really enjoying this. I've had to suspend certain things in my head though because I'm a MASSIVE fan of all the books (read them a million times) and they have taken quite a lot of creative license with certain aspects and characters and there are quite big differences in the backgrounds mentioned in Red Dragon.

However, if you just take it at face value as a different imagining of the same universe then I think it's really good. Great actors and Graham is perfectly cast.

These are going to be dim questions, but it was Hannibal who killed that young man but Abigail thinks she did it and blotted it out, wasn't it?

Is Hannibal responsible for any other murders, apart from the female FBI agent? I assume so, because those are human organs, aren't they? Or is it meant to be unclear?

I also now can't remember whether her body was discovered or not. If not, why doesn't anybody appear to be looking for her? Maybe they have been and I wasn't paying attention. There were a few episodes where I was only half watching and I'm a bit confused now.

The stag sculpture seems a bit of a giveaway, but Will hasn't noticed it. Am I reading too much into it?

I don't fancy Mads Mikkelson but I think I should because he's got all the right things going for him. I like his clothes and I'm jealous of his kitchen.

yes hannibal killed the male friend, but blames abigail for it or makes her think she did it

Thanks. I know it probably seemed obvious Blush

I love this series! Mads Mikkelsen makes an awesome Lector, although I'm slightly disturbed by having the horn for Hannibal! At least I'm not the only one... Grin
I find the Will Graham "this is my design" spiel a bit cringey though!

I sort of like it - it's an acquired taste (excuse the pun!)....it's rather gruesome though....

Mads Mikkelsen is kind of horribly beguiling.....

It definitely adds something that he's fanciable. Was he physically attractive in the books? I haven't read them.

I don't seem to ever 100% pay attention when it's on....does Hannibal have some type of involvement in every episode's murders?

Sorry can't help with the books - after reading American Psycho I vowed to stay away from that type of fiction (there's no metaphorical cushion to hide behind with a book!)....

That's what I want to know.

Can I have a go on Willem Defoe when you're not using him?

I don't get will's gift of seeing into how the killer did each murder

And yes think each time lector kills someone and then eats them

He always seem to be eating

ha! Limitedperiodonly Grin!

Loved the episode a couple of weeks ago where he held a lavish dinner party and said it wasn't suitable for vegetarians.....Yuck! You might think that one of his dinner guests might think the meat tastes unlike anything they've ever eaten before.....

I don't know.

Human meat is supposed to taste like pork or longpigs. But if you thought it was a bit dodgy you'd probably be far too polite to say if it was a muscle meat.

People are miles more squeamish about offal. I wouldn't be, but people are and I remember Americans asking in Italy: 'Is this organ meat?'

It was. Grin

Hannibal wasn't described as physically attractive - Hopkins is the closest in terms of the book's physical description in my opinion (slightly balding, slicked back hair etc). He is however VERY charming in the books.

I'm still to completely catch up, I've just watched the one with Eddie Izzard in it.

Anyone who hasn't read the books SHOULD read them...they're awesome.

Just catching up - last episode next week

But who was the woman with the severed arm re attached who got burnt ?

I've stuck with this series & think its fab - I was a bit bored the first couple of episodes but it just got better & better! I must admit I can't watch the full episode though as I'm too squeamish Grin

Never read the books, so sounds like I'll need to give them a try.

I've really enjoyed this series but have to blot out the odd background noises and ignore the fact that Will Graham's ability verges on magic.
I'm not easily shocked but often feel grossed out by some of the murders. Hopefully the last episode clears a few things up but I doubt it somehow.

anyone know who the burnt woman with the attached arm was?

Bloneshavemorefun - It was Georgia the girl from last week who murdered her best friend as her illness made her unable to see faces.
It looks like she is another Hannibal victim, as it seems she was getting better and as a result might remember that Hannibal killed Will's Dr (the one who was covering up Wills physical illness on the suggestion of Hannibal). At least I think that's what happened!
Have to admit an obsession with Mads and just watched Royal Affair where he was lovely.

I've been really enjoying this series...I think Mads is a better fit as Hannibal than Anthony Hopkins. Yes, Anthony Hopkins did a great job in Silence of the Lambs but for me he never quite captured the charming, charismatic, urban spohisticate nature of Hannibal that I get from the books, Hopkins made him just a bit too menacing and creepy to truly believe him as an accomplished host and entertainer.

Agree that Mads mumbled in the beginning of the series but would still like to see him in any big film remake of the Hannibal books

Whilst I don't fancy this Hannibal, I do think he is charming and attractive. I also think he is more like I imagine him from the book (which I love too)

I've just read the synopsis and I cannot wait. is there a second series?

Report
CloudBursting · 30/07/2013 21:31

There is going to be a second series, though it was close to being cancelled at one point.
I have really enjoyed this series, it seems to be beautifully shot and all the actors are excellent. It does seem ironic though, that its allowed to be immensely gory but no nudity was allowed.

wonder when 2nd series is on-have marked it on sky miss thing
