Please, please no, what's with the canned laughter?
I'm cringing, and back in the 70's,
Ian Mackellen and Derek Jacobi, why just why?

I thought the second episode was better - more depth to the characters, well the two main ones anyway and some genuine laughs. Frances De La Tour is still tragically wasted in a one dimensional role. Made me think when the characters kissed - how often do you see two men kissing and it just be a normal everyday part of their relationship? For that, if nothing else it deserves praise.

In a way, I hope they get a second series, lose the laughter track tell the leads to stop playing for laughs and just do what they do best- just bloody act. Add some substance to the scripts and it could be half decent.

Not sure if ITV or the main cast will persevere with it after the mixed reaction and viewing figures (interestingly the tabloids are far more positive than the broadsheets)
