Stars Ian McKellen and Derek 'Del Boy' Jacobi, coming on next Monday, it looks pretty funny from the clips I've seen so far on website. I'm a huge DJ fan anyway (have been since the BBC repeated 'I Claudius' in 1986) so I'm looking forward to it Smile

I can't wait for this. I love SIM. I think he is awesome!

iklboo · 25/04/2013 20:11

Looking forward to this too. Saw SIM being interviewed about it & it sounds like they had a whale of a time filming it.

insanityscratching · 25/04/2013 20:15

I said the same to dh who disagreed and said he thought it looked rubbish Hmm Mind you he's a grumpy git at the best of times so will come on here to wax lyrical about it instead.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 25/04/2013 20:16

Well up for this. Decent writing pedigree too. Who'd have thought it - we're agog with anticipation for an new ITV sitcom Shock

RedPencils · 25/04/2013 20:16

Looks good, must remember to record it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/04/2013 20:19

DH has put this on the TV reminder setting.
Yes it does look funny from the clips.
And after the Watershed so might be a bit rude Wink

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2013 13:44

SIM?

I'm, looking forward to this. Thanks for the reminder.

limitedperiodonly · 27/04/2013 13:46

Oh, Sir Ian McKellan. Blush

He's good at comedy. I watched Coronation Street for him and I've seen him in panto. Brilliant.

diddl · 27/04/2013 19:14

I like the look of it also.

Well, from the clips, at least.

Clawdy · 28/04/2013 10:18

I like them both but the one-liners in the clips seemed feeble and unfunny to me,slightly off-putting.

mrsjay · 28/04/2013 10:39

I cant wait it looks FABULOUS Wink be lots of 'old queen' jokes and it has SIM in it what is not to like, dh was a bit Hmm though but he is a grump and thinks only fools and horses is still hilarious ,

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/04/2013 18:43

its on the planner so will see whats its like

need something good for a monday now broadchurch has finished

Picturesinthefirelight · 28/04/2013 18:45

I think it looks good dh said the clips remind him of a few friends he has. It's exactly the sort of thing they would say.

BedHanger · 28/04/2013 18:45

Senses, snap. Was too young to watch the repeat in 86 but watched the video a few years later. I LOVE Derek, he is a genius.

JuliaScurr · 28/04/2013 18:48

mrsjay · 28/04/2013 19:13

No juliascurr I can't. I can think of women who could star in a putative comedy about lesbians but they would be actors, not necessarily gay ones.

Most people aren't at all friendly towards gay females in any walk of life, so a lesbian comedy isn't going to make it, even on BBC4.

I'll discuss the portrayal of homosexuality in popular entertainment from the personal POV of a straight woman if you like, but I need to know more about your view before I can.

limitedperiodonly · 28/04/2013 19:41

Sorry julia I didn't mean it to come over as arsey as it might have done.

I'm interested in the many comedy portrayals of gay men, and whether they're helpful or whether, on balance, gay women are better off out of it.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 28/04/2013 19:53

Did nobody watch Sue Perkins' recent lesbian sitcom then? It was only a few weeks ago.

If you were casting a female version of Vicious then your stars would probably be Miriam Margolyes (obvs) and Francis De La Tour, who may not be gay, but is definitely fabulous.

Pan · 28/04/2013 19:53

no, I can't think of a lesbian equivalent, but that's neither here nor there.
We have just suffered Sue Perkins' stint as a vet, which was supposedly lesbian-based, but it really wasn't imo, and was really not funny at all. (apart from the Brummie vet who was male and hilarious.)

Pan · 28/04/2013 19:55

X- posts! Francis de la Tour would be excellent, if she wasn't too old? Saw her on stage years ago. Brilliant actor.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 28/04/2013 20:04

Well she's a co-lead in Vicious, so no she's not too old.

Pan · 28/04/2013 20:14

Well that answers my question!Grin

BedHanger · 29/04/2013 21:13

Anyone watching?
