yes, crap, crap, crap - how about more original drama on tv, oh no I forgot, there have been some excellent series starring the likes of Tamsin Outhwaite. Not.

Its the 40th anniversary isn't it?

I was thinking how Hindley and Brady were put away for life, meaning life (quite rightly imho) but subsequent and equally viscious child murderers weren't?

There was one - forget his name - who came out and murdered again!

niceglasses · 10/05/2006 18:42

I find those 2 images using Kate Moss and Pete Doherty a bit disturbing...can't quite make me mind up, but I bet some of the living relatives can.

Those images have become so Warhol-esque......

shellybelly · 10/05/2006 18:44

wouldn't watch the beverley allit one and won't be watching this one, sometimes i think its these type of things and movies that plant the tiny little seeds into the minds of potentially sick people (going off on one now sorry, will stop)

on a slightly different note there is a documentary about the survivors of jack the ripper telling their story

bring back dynasty or dallas Grin

2shoes · 10/05/2006 18:47

maybe they can't find decent writers to write "made up" dramas. I hate all these ones that have been on of late except Krakatoa(can't spell it) last Sunday that was amazing... but didn't involve child murder.

i've just started watching SATC again Grin, utter shite on TV at the moment apart from benders and corrie and in desperate need of light relief!

foxinsocks · 10/05/2006 21:32

I would rather these sort of things were dealt with in a documentary format rather than a 'drama' (same with the Beverley Allit thing). I don't particularly want to see actors acting the whole thing out but a proper, factual documentary is far more informative and IMO deals with it in a better way.

TV is always crap over the summer and then all the new series start again in the autumn.

MadamePlatypus · 10/05/2006 23:53

How awful! I sympathise with the parents who still want information and want to keep it in the public eye, but why do they (the programme makers) need to dramatise it?

MamaMaiasaura · 11/05/2006 00:04

This is awful - think it is completely unessecary and cannot think of a more stupid idea for a programme. Could we not make this point to the tv company (dont know who is showing it) and with the backing of MN Towers? Surely this site alone has a huge amount of mums who use it?

foxinsocks · 11/05/2006 09:23

I bet loads of people watch it though and the viewing figures will be mainly what ITV is interested in.

edam · 11/05/2006 09:33

My initial instinct was also against this. But apparently the families were consulted and gave it the go-ahead. They've seen the final programme and approved it. Think they wanted to make sure their children weren't forgotten. The programme doesn't recreate what happened to the children - the Lesley Ann Downey tape or any of that. Hindley's sister and BIL - who reported them to the police - were also consulted.
