TV Boxsets - recommendations please...

Hi

I've always enjoyed a good boxset (24 and West Wing are my faves) but have never managed to convince DH to join in.

I really want us to get in to a boxset together but not sure which one to go for. So was hoping for some recommendations.

Also, just joined Netflix if that helps?

Thanks x

We both enjoyed Broadwalk Empire. Have a Google see if you fancy it.

The Wire. The Brotherhood. Mad Men. The Killing.

Much prefer to watch stuff in a concentrated week long boxset frenzy. Nothing more satisfying.

Series that both you and your OH could enjoy together:
The Killing
Modern Family
Homeland

They're all so good, I'm actually jealous of other people who get to enjoy them from the beginning all over again :)

I must warn you, please don't watch Lost, the first 2 seasons are amazing but you will be immensely frustrated by the time you get to seasons 4 or 5... A waste of time IMHO!

We're trying to get into Breaking Bad now but having a hard time enjoying it...

Also regarding Game of Thrones, I know lots of people LOVE it, but for us it was too many gratuitous sex and violence.

titan · 31/03/2013 20:26

All on Netflix DH and I have both enjoyed (in order of best first)
Prison Break
Breaking Bad
Modern Family
Dexter
White Collar
The 4400

Elementary and Sherlock. About the only things DH doesn't fall asleep watching.

snowballschanceineaster · 01/04/2013 17:36

If you want any comedy, the IT Crowd is our current favourite of the year. DD is 12 and loves it. We are all in the habit of shouting, 'I've got a gun...I've got a mother flipping gun' at random moments. DD also says 'my ears are not a toilet' if anyone even vaguely swears around her and the key response to computer problems is 'have you tried turning it off and on again?'. For once, I'm glad dd has obsessed about a programme :)

Another vote for Breaking Bad. Best TV series since the Wire, IMHO!

Sheila · 01/04/2013 18:06

Damages - gripping legal thriller starring Glenn Close and Rose Byrne.

LittleBairn · 01/04/2013 19:29

For Netflix
Spooks DH and I never watch the tv shows, this is our only exception.
Breaking Bad, it's quite dark but oddly addictive.
Damages
House of Cards, most west wing fans like this, political drama.

For sci-fi
The 4400
Jericho my favourite

For period drama
Pillars of the earth
North and south
Pride and prejudice
Bleak house
