help me find this film

Its about a man who writes novels,he goes somewhere i the country,i remember a part where he drives past a boy on a bike and the drives past him again ad the boy has the face of an old man.all the people in the town turn against him and try to mob him ad he drives away but keeps returning to that bit of town where the mob is,eve though he keeps turning back.

anyone recognize it?

I thought it might be a dream but i was asking my mum if she remembered watching it,and she said she did recall those parts,it was a long time ago,probably over ten years so a relatively old film!

I thought i remembered that man from jurassic park in it,but not sure.

It was a film of the novel 'The Midwitch Cuckoos', and was made in the 60s, but John Carpenter remade it in the mid 90s I think. The original has a guy who is a novellist in it, and both have angry mobs?

I think I saw bits of it years ago at a slumber party! When I was a teenager. I remember Sam Neill in a padded room with crosses he'd drawn all over himself.

I don't remember anything else, which means I probably didn't watch it. I've always been a baby about horror movies.
