Friday Night Lights - Tammy from Counselor to head teacher

I love this show. Can anyone explain how Tammy (the coach's wife) was a counselor in the high school and then suddenly became a head teacher of the school? I am sure i haven't missed any episodes as Sky + all my viewing.

In the U.S. it is possible to sit an exam to gain qualifications to become a school principal--provided you have adequate numbers of classroom hours under your belt and the appropriate degree.

Chances are she already had certification (qualifications) to be a counsellor and stepped up from there. This is also small town Texas, so anything goes...

Vag - thank you, it has been bugging me how she suddenly got a promotion. In the UK the other teachers would not respect you if you suddenly leapfrogged up the hierarchy.

My favourite show!

I think that part of the story happened in the strange bit between the end of series two and beginning of series three when the writers' strike happened and they cut short the series. There were a few unexplained things!
