Panorama - America's gun obsession

Has anyone else just watched this?

I don't think I'll ever forget the image of a classroom of 5 year olds practising the gun drill (ie hide in a cupboard while the teacher barricades you in) and then talking about why they need to practise this "in case the bad guys come to shoot us."

They want to give guns to teachers.

Another young teenager with mental health problems whose family keep him away from guns but can't afford the long term mental health treatment that he needs so instead rely on calling the police when he gets violent so they can put him in a facility for a few days.

I just can't imagine how such a progressive country can be so third world in some aspects. :-(

i having been accused in RL of not living in the real world, and while i do know that people living in amrica need health insurance, i cannot believe the amount of money it would cost to help the boy who is obviously in need. broke my heart when he said he was scared of ending up in jail.

I can't even comment on those tiny children practising incase bad guys come with guns. heartbreaking, and i'm unsure how they will ever change the threat of a gun attack
