I watched a bit the other night. My dd is watching it avidly (she now is very interested in working as a prison oFficer or probation worker if her army plans don't pan out). It's bloody gruelling watching. The prison officers seem very kind.

Felt very sorry for the suicidal lad scared of getting out because he owed so much to the drug dealers, and knew he would end up back on heroin.

Oh, that's good it's not just me then Grin

There are some seriously damaged individuals in there - i thought it was very sad really

GetOrf I thought it was interesting what the male prison officer was saying about the shift in attitudes and behaviours of prisoners towards female prison officers? Tough role

It made me think. Apart from those with obvious MH issues what are we supposed to do with the violent, low intelligence thugs in there? One or two seemed to be able to get out of the rut and make something good of their lives, but the majority ....... a waste of space.

it did seem impossible to see how, given the deprived backgrounds etc, how it would be possible to rehabilitate some of the inmates - especially, since some of them were entrenched in the 'criminal/hard man' identity
