The Vampire Diaries - worth sticking with?

I've seen 2 episodes. Does it get better? Do the characters get less whiny?
Maybe it's just me being an old gimmer...?

If you can get through the first 5 or 6 episodes of series one when it is pretty much Yet Another Whiny Teen Drama, it does get much better. Nothing to do with Damon, oh no sirree...

Ah, ok.
Yes, Damon does appear to be the more interesting character so far!

It`s worth watching for every second Damon Salvatore is on the screen.
