I'm massively struggling. First the psycho-dodo destroys his brother, then the mother rejects the poor injured one, THEN the elephant. I'm going to have to go to bed in a minute.

Flossbert · 09/01/2013 21:36

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and actively avoiding OBEM. I thought I'd be alright with Africa, but I'm still sobbing about the elephant!

BigcatLittlecat · 09/01/2013 21:36

Too upset to go to bed! Hoping it will become more uplifting!

PetiteRaleuse · 09/01/2013 21:36

Very sad indeed. Sad

Horsemad · 09/01/2013 21:36

I know Sad Nature is very cruel.

Glad it's not just me...sniff...:(

PetiteRaleuse · 09/01/2013 21:39

I wonder if she caught up with the rest of her family. I think I saw somewhere that they always follow the same routes to water yar after year so I hope so.

Delatron · 09/01/2013 21:41

I cried and turned over after the mother rejecting the chick for evil sibling scene, thank god I missed the elephant, it would have sent me over the edge!

elvislives2012 · 09/01/2013 21:42

Am an emotional wreck Hmm poor baby. Am worse since having DD 11 weeks ago....

catsmother · 09/01/2013 21:43

I'd be a crap film maker...camera would be thrown aside as I rushed in to help Blush

coffeeinbed · 09/01/2013 21:50

What with the bird, the baby elephant and the polar bear cubs from last night - I've been crying couple of evenings now.

Horsemad · 09/01/2013 21:51

I remember watching a documentary years ago where the film crew rescued a flamingo that had basically become 'concreted' in a lake that had dried out.

It would have died if they hadn't intervened.

Im.on catch up now and just watched the elephant bit «sobs»

Beautiful programme but so sad in places.

I thought last weeks Giraffe battle was amazing.

Elsqueak · 10/01/2013 13:35

Glad I turned over now if your comments regarding baby elephant are anything to go by.

Love nature documentaries but sometimes they're so hard to watch.

Anything with babies being killed or rejected.

I know it was a while ago but Blue planet really upset me when the Killer whales pursued a baby whale...it was bloody brutal.

timtam23 · 15/01/2013 23:05

We recorded this & so have only just watched it. Sobbing over the baby elephant, am glad I'm not the only one! The poor, poor mother elephant. But the herd returned with lots of new babies after the rains came, so there was a happy ending of sorts. It was very moving to hear the cameraman describe his feelings when filming such emotional scenes.
