Dh away once or twice a week so I thought I would buy something to watch alone with wine and chocolate.
Have bought ER season 1, have I done the right thing? Will be starting tonight.

Oooh yes have just finished season 1 and really enjoyed it - had to keep rationing myself though....

PersonalClown · 04/01/2013 16:57

My ER boxset is the best thing I've ever bought.
I NEED my fix at least twice a week still

IslaValargeone · 04/01/2013 17:01

OOh great, I'm excited now.
I have a highly suggestive personality so will probably want to become a doctor after the first 3 episodes.

Is series 1 the main one with Dr. Ross and Carol the nurse and "tell me you don't think about me when you're with him!!" goes all unnecessary and back in time about 18 years

Even if it's not, you'll be working up to that one, the early series were fab. Grin

IslaValargeone · 04/01/2013 17:05

Crikey is it that old?
I don't know much about it, I quite like hospital type things but wanted a bit more hard core than Grey's Anatomy or Holby City :o

yes its really old, i used to watch it with my mum it must be at least20 years.....but still really hospitally so will scratch that medical itch for you....

PersonalClown · 04/01/2013 17:24

It started in 94.
I lost my way a bit from season 12 ish but came running back at the last season.
It was so weird to see all the old faces back.

alittlebitcountry · 04/01/2013 17:27

Good choice. Sky showed all 14 series throughout 2011, which coincided nicely with my maternity leave (pfb so no wall to wall cbeebies back thenGrin).

IslaValargeone · 04/01/2013 17:31

14 seasons! This will cost me a fortune if it's any good.

Good choice. I think it loses its way after season 8, but evey season before that is fantastic all the way through. I have my planner recording ER every day but it's in the rubbish part of the series so you're in for a treat.
It's also pretty gory. :) Let us know how you get on.

Doobydoo · 04/01/2013 17:34

you have1 am Envy...Enjoy and be prepared to cry and think about it too much [blush ]

PersonalClown · 04/01/2013 17:36

It's 15 seasons!!

cocolepew · 04/01/2013 17:37

It's brilliant, I loved it.

EMS23 · 04/01/2013 17:39

My absolute favourite tv show of all time. Good choice!

NoHank · 04/01/2013 22:18

The only show I have ever stuck with through every series. Think I watched every episode and loved it all

I am now hooked on the walking dead - hope it lasts half as long and is half as good

loachey · 05/01/2013 20:36

I loved ER. I watched every episode bar 1 and that had been recorded over by a flatmate (recorded over - how old!!!) It's my fave program ever and I love Dr Green! Definitely worth the watch!

loachey · 05/01/2013 20:39

I also remember an episode where my husband walked in from the pub at the end of it with some friends and I was sat there bawling my eyes out. I won't spoil but that's how involved you get with the characters. They all thought I was mad!

Lexie1970 · 05/01/2013 20:43

I love love love ER and so tempted to get some box sets.

Enjoy - doug Ross was my screen saver for years swoon!!!!

SlatternismyChristmasname · 06/01/2013 09:32

I watched the series the first time around and loved it, if I remember it was on after Friends so became a real student ritual to watch it with a bottle of wine.

Like another poster above I watched the entire rerun when on maternity leave (and cried my heart out at various times). Fantastic tv.

OwlCatMouse · 06/01/2013 09:38

I'd just give in and buy the entire box set now. It must be dead cheap these days?

FadBook · 06/01/2013 09:41

I love ER and ended up buying the whole series over the course of 12 months Blush (I was on maternity leave)

I managed to get a few of the series' on eBay or HMV for 10 quid.

It does loose it's way a bit around series 8 but comes back full swing around series 10.

I Envy ER and think I now know about every illness going and how to medicate Grin

SlatternismyMiddlename · 06/01/2013 09:42

I would agree with Owl!

tkband3 · 06/01/2013 09:42

It's my favourite programme ever - Grey's comes close, but ER still wins. DH bought me the full box set of all 15 series for Christmas... can't wait to get watching! Dr Green was my favourite. Loachey - I used to frequently bawl my eyes out Smile.

slartybartfast · 06/01/2013 09:45

OH, yes, another big ER fan and Dr Green fan also.

blibblibs · 06/01/2013 09:49

It was and is the best thing that was ever on tv.
I used to tape it too - and have the saddest bit of tv ever made still on tape!
Have nothing to play it on now though.
