1/8 - Lady's Pleasure
The old geezers and their glamorous female boss are back, re-investigating old crimes and getting on each other's nerves. Things are still as comical and proceed roughly along much the same lines as previous series, but it's amiable enough. Tonight the team looks again at the death of a woman in a car crash. Her husband (Charles Dale - he's also in The Street this week), who's never shown a flicker of sorrow, wants the car back. The investigators have just three days to try to find some evidence linking him to his wife's death. There's lots of pantomime-ish humour surrounding investigations at a rugby club (inevitably, there's much nudging and wry looks as Jack Halford and Brian Lane - James Bolam and Alun Armstrong - interview rugby players in a shower). But it's time someone told ageing womaniser Gerry Standing (Dennis Waterman) that there's a very fine line between being a jack-the-lad and a dirty old man.
