Netflix, Lovefilm - what's the difference?

And are either worth having? I want to get at things I'd have bought as boxed sets in the Olden Days, like The Killing.

Recommendations? Watchouts? Help!

I have Lovefilm and get 2 DVDs at home plus instant online. The selection of online films is a bit limited but on the whole, I am happy with it. Currently watching The Vampire Diaries!

I have lovefilm and thinking of unsubscribing, their selection is very limitied IMO, we keep thinking of things we want to watch and they don't have it, feel like we've seen all the good ones on there already. Its fine if you like obscure stuff! also good for exercise dvds - have all the jillian michaels ones and davina ones, but for recentish releases or comedy its a bit pants!

For us, the difference was that Lovefilm instant streaming didn't work at all, whereas Netflix has never frozen even for a second. Bit disappointed with the selection on both really, although Lovefilm looks quite good if you go for DVDs through the post. I'm more of a films than box set sort though.

Get the free trial of both and keep the one you like best.

If you go on topcashback you can even get money for getting the free trial. I like netflix as it has subtitles and I am a deaf old bat. It doesn't have them on everything but the new stuff they are putting on does.

I have Netflix its ok, was great at first.

I bought off groupon £10 for 6 month deal and I love it! More newer stuff and all of buffy which I'm currently watching every night!

The food thing about Netflix is te dc could go on Netflix kids and watch anything they wanted where as love film you have to keep an eye what they chose as some things look to a child to be good but there 15s and such.

Netflix has a good range of TV shows as well, if you are interested. I spotted all the previous seasons of Breaking Bad on it, plus 24. Also comedies like Peep Show, Coupling, etc.

AuntieMaggie · 30/12/2012 19:51

The selection on netflix is shite. Previously trialled lovefilm and it was much better.

uptheamp · 30/12/2012 19:53

i explored both of these the other day and concluded that both weren't worth the money they were asking. netflix didn't have a search facility either which put me off and all the films i wanted on lovefilm weren't streamable.

years ago belonged to lovefilm and they never had the films i wanted in stock either. there's definitely a gap in the market for someone who know what people want!

Netflix has a search function. I just used it today to find the Teletubbies. Hmm

SparklySanta · 30/12/2012 20:56

Lovefilm has a search function too, on its app and it's website!

We have Lovefilm but the 2 DVD package and instant streaming! I love it, the selection for Instant streaming is a bit poor but then they occasionally have some gems on there! I love getting the DVDs as it means we can watch some of the newer stuff on the telly rather than on the iPad!
