There.

OP posts:
AdesteFiderer · 17/12/2012 08:18

Anyone ever listen to Karen Hardy's commentary? I keep meaning too and then forget.

Minichristmas · 17/12/2012 08:24

Fiddy. Waves madly. [ fsmile]

AdesteFiderer · 17/12/2012 08:26

Mini? Xmas Shock Xmas Grin Didn't recognise you in your Christmas finery.

AdesteFiderer · 17/12/2012 08:27

So delighted, forgot to wave madly back!

Minichristmas · 17/12/2012 08:30

It's the sequins Fiddy. I can see you are bedazzled by my self tatted Strictly ensemble.

AdesteFiderer · 17/12/2012 08:31

Bedazzled is certainly one way of putting it.

OodKingWenceslas · 17/12/2012 08:34

I would like to listen to the commentary but would prefer that on a second viewing and there isn't that option .

Jingleallthejay · 17/12/2012 08:46

I was a wee bit gutted Lisa went I know DVO was much better but would have liked to have seen her and Robin in the final just because they are so much fun , DVO looks hard faced I am sure she is a 'nice person in RL but god she has a steely look about her James as well they look like they would break somebodies legs to win Grin

Jingleallthejay · 17/12/2012 08:48

Proper welled up at Lisa, I did. 'twas lovely.

I did and when Robin filled up that was me I was gone Blush

digerd · 17/12/2012 09:55

Lisa's emotional reaction had me in a melt down which lasted for ages last night. Just read that she will be in the show dance next Saturday, and I am looking forward to seeing her again, smiling away and giving it her all. She must be super strong to have lifted James up into her arms like that ?!
I too noticed the judges stressing "on technique, DVO", quite rightly so. Have always missed any genuine expression from her in her dances, except for the Jive.

frankinsensible · 17/12/2012 10:42

That Guardian blog is excellent! Quote on the training vid before DVO first dance "Ooh look, Denise has a little girl. I literally had no idea" Xmas Grin

LittleAbruzzenBearLovesYuleLog · 17/12/2012 10:57

I thought that was funny Frankin - wheel your little daughter out for votes. Look at me, I'm a Mum!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/12/2012 11:13

Wonder what's going on in Lisa's life? She said it had been hard for Robin having her as a partner because of it, and Tess made mention of 'a very tough time in your life'.

Whatever it is, she always hid it and put on a proper show when she was dancing. I think it's right that she's gone home now ? the others are all better dancers than she was ? but she's been fabulous, inspiring and thoroughly entertaining.

I thought Kimberley's dance to Fever was tremendous. She's so musical and expressive. Liked Louis' foxtrot too. Dani's AT was underwhelming and overmarked IMO; one of the judges said it was like two bodies becoming one but I really didn't think it was.

DVO: meh. Arlene once said that in the tango the upper back has to tingle, and hers didn't. Her rumba was lacking in real hip action too, I thought; there was no sense of the movement undulating up and through her body. She will be first out in the final.

Tweedledeedum · 17/12/2012 11:21

How does the final work with four couples? Is there an elimination?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/12/2012 11:45

I'm assuming there'll be a first round of eliminations after one dance. Maybe two couples will be eliminated then, leaving the final two?

ppeatfruit · 17/12/2012 11:58

Hello lady and little (waves Xmas Grin) ! Agree about Lisa. Yes digerd and Adeste I also noticed the judges' faces when voting for D & J 'on technique' Darcey was crying definitely.

digerd · 17/12/2012 12:12

Will be watching ITT expecting info on the final during the week.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/12/2012 12:13

Hi ppeat!

The judges made the right decision for them. DVO is a better dancer and that's what they're there to judge on.

She'll be first out the door once the audience takes over though. Grin I don't think I could call the winner; Louis is pretty, Kimberley presumably has a Girls Aloud fanbase, Dani has Tracy Beaker fans, he, Kimberley and Dani have all been on the 'journey' ...

There isn't much between them.

[excited]

AndiMac · 17/12/2012 12:15

Is anyone practising their Strictly Shimmy this week?

Oh go on, you know you want to!!

digerd · 17/12/2012 12:23

ppeat
I was a bit shocked, as they had never mentioned DVO's expression < or lack of it> before, but they obviously knew and said nothing until last night. But why? Somehow I don't think it will help with the viewers even if she did perform with oodles of expression in the final?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/12/2012 12:26

I thought they were stressing 'technique' to make the point that, although Lisa had loads of fun and expression, her actual technical ability was less than Denise's? Not that they were saying Denise has no expression or feeling.

ppeatfruit · 17/12/2012 12:29

That's soo true Digerd but they made a lot of Louis's lack of expression. No IMO DVO will NOT win!

ppeatfruit · 17/12/2012 12:32

But DVO doesn't have much personality in her dancing lady Maybe as someone else has said its the botox Xmas Grin

ceebeegeebies · 17/12/2012 12:32

I think it is going to be really hard for DVO in training this week as she knows she is least popular with the public therefore will be first out. So it will be difficult to motivate herself for the showdance and other dances she will need to learn knowing full well she won't get to perform them!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 17/12/2012 12:46

I agree, ppeat, I don't think she does, but the judges must think she does have expression, otherwise surely they would have mentioned it before now. They (well Bruno at least) raved about how moving her rumba was, for example, so must have seen and felt some emotion in it even if no one else did.

In the dance-off they often preface their decisions by saying 'I must decide purely on technique' or similar.
