Hi all,

I need some suggestions for a new xmas DVD -only problem is DD (5) won't tolerate any scary stuff at all. She not only doesn't like baddies etc, but can't really deal with moments of big tension. We already have the Snowman so am struggling! Does The Polar Express have any hairy bits?

The Polar Express is a little bit scary in parts
The littlest light on the Christmas tree is sweet
Raymond Briggs Father Christmas is also good

dd loves mickeys once upon a christmas and rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

Arthur Christmas is great. Don't think there are scary bits in it

Polar Express is more 'mild peril' than scary. I think the worst it gets is "will the train stay on the tracks when the brakes fail?!"

unless I fell asleep in the zombie apocalypse bit.

Nativity is fab for all the family

Gruffalo and Gruffalo's Child have been hits here, after ds had read the books.

Ds is the same - we managed about 30 seconds of Wizard of Oz before he cried that it was too scary (Dorothy is shouting about a nasty woman being mean to Toto...)

He claimed to enjoy Arthur Christmas but I suspect he fell asleep in the cinema as he only talked about the Muppets trailer (he and I both found the film upsetting until the final third).

Got [[http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Original-Christmas-Classics-DVD/dp
/B005KQ4HO4/ref=cmcrprproducttop this]] from Sainsbury's the other day, for just a few quid and the DTs (5.5) love them. Apparently they're an American tradition though I was just amused seeing an animated Fred Astaire. The b&w 1950s Xmas newsreels at the start are, er, quaint too.
