Rediscovering Tales of the Unexpected!

Have found repeats of these on SkyArts. They are fabulous little programmes - 30 minutes long. I loved watching them in the 80's. They seemed so daring back then Grin. Now I can predict the 'twist' ending nearly every time. How things have changed! They are strangely addictive though.

Anyone else rediscovered them?

I remember them too, they were exciting and very daring in the 80s..... or maybe I was just a lot more innocent then :)

steppemum · 23/11/2012 21:09

loved them as a teen ager.

Have you come across the husband in the lift one yet? Loved that one. and the chopped off little fingers made me Shock Shock at the time!

kenanddreary · 23/11/2012 21:12

Grin @ Chottie - yes I think it was a more innocent time as far as TV was concerned.

Have come across the chopped fingers Steppe - brilliant! But not the husband in the lift yet. Recording them on Sky so perhaps I will come across it eventually.

We were talking about these at work yesterday, didn't know they were back on. They used to scare the life out of me, the chopped off little finger one particularly springs to mind.

kenanddreary · 23/11/2012 21:42

I used to feel so grown-up when I was allowed to watch them. Now they seem so tame!

I love watching these on Youtube. Great for when you only have 30 mins.

Zukie - There are two episodes every day at the moment - I think 12.30pm and 1pm. I have it programmed in Sky planner to save up for when I want a 30 minute filler. Smile

I loved tails if the unexpected, I remember this one episode where a school girl got of the bus and walked through a field. She was bring followed by a man ( sort of like bennie from cross roads) and she was scared so she knocked in the first house she came to, where this little old lady lived.

The lady invites her in and just as she's having tea and biscuit the man walks in and the lady introduces her son.

Not sure what happened next, but really scary.

kenanddreary · 27/11/2012 11:52

Oh that sounds good griphook. Maybe they will show that one. They aren't as shocking now but still love them!

Oh yes and I remember reading the books too. I remember the lift and chopped fingers ones. In the books i remember one about someone serving a police officer a leg of lamb when they were doing door to door visits. Anyone remember that one?

ordinarygull · 27/11/2012 12:28

I remember that one, the leg of lamb was the murder weapon.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/11/2012 12:56

It used to scare me no end as a teenager! Just the music would send shivers down my spine.

I do remember one where a man gradually turned into a bumble bee!

The taxidermy one was on the other day, about the guesthouse with remarkably well preserved pets... and guests...

Slainte · 27/11/2012 21:16

The bee one scared the bejaysus out of me.

QuickLookBusy · 27/11/2012 21:20

Oh thank you, I loved these! Will set my sky thingy.

Sinister, that's the episode which sticks in my mind, I hope they show it.

kenanddreary · 27/11/2012 22:01

Kay - I saw that one today! It was really scary. I didn't think they could scare me anymore but that one with the creepy landlady was terrifying!

Saw the one with the leg of lamb recently. Great episode and starred Brian Blessed. Didn't remember/realise what great casts they used for these until started watching them again.

We don't have Sky, but I'm going to watch some on Youtube. Thanks for reminding me OP!
