Not very keen on violence (beyond about the level in Lewis) would this rule out the Wire?

Dh likes Big Bang theory, not quite my cup of tea (not much of a social life here you can probably tell ...)

The Wire is truly awesome. It can be violent but is believable and not over the top. Cannot recommend it highly enough, in fact I am jealous that you haven't seen it yet!!!
