what do you think? I had such high hopes for this show...

Stopped watching it, must be too old.

Itsaboatjack · 16/11/2012 00:53

I don't get it at all. I heard rave reviews about it but I just cringed through it and don't think I laughed once.

EchoAlone · 16/11/2012 12:29

I fear I may be too old for it as well! That w***g scene was just too yuck

Ooh, I love it, although have only done 3 eps of season 1.

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 16/11/2012 12:32

I think it's really well written and incredibly depressing.

Gives me the heebie jeebies at going back and being 24 again.

BellaTheGymnast · 16/11/2012 12:34

It sometimes has the opposite effect on me, and makes me want my carefree bohemian big city existence again with lots of sex.

EchoAlone · 16/11/2012 12:58

Visually, it is good- the apartments are not too glam and the clothes seem more likely than those on most shows about 20 somethings. I wonder will the creator/ star someday regret exposing so much of herself- physically and emotionally

I like how the sex scenes aren't remotely sexy or romantic - not really seen this much on TV before

Celticlassie · 17/11/2012 14:32

Just watched the first 4 episodes and I actually quite like it, although I think it's definitely something I'd have to watch alone - I'd cringe a bit if anyone else was there for some of these sex scenes. It's another one of these programmes that we're supposed to identify with - but I don't know anyone like that! Maybe also too old...

EchoAlone · 17/11/2012 18:31

That is such a good point about the sex scenes! The way they converse mid act...

Dh raved about this. I hated it. I couldn't find a single thing funny about it. In fact, it is meant to be funny? It seems to be trying far too hard to be the antithesis of Sex and the City, to the point I would have been grateful for a bit of pointless shoe shopping to lighten the mood.

And I am also probably too oldGrin

VolumeOfACone · 17/11/2012 18:39

I have only seen two episodes but I really liked them.
I thought they were interesting and unusual. And funny!

BonfireBaby · 18/11/2012 17:18

Yeah, it's definitely not laugh out loud funny but well observed I think. Did you see the bit where the English one was pitting on make up at her employers house and the Dad blatantly fancies her and the Mum was being overly nice though she obviously felt really awkward...

stookiesackhouse · 23/11/2012 11:58

Was looking to see if there was a thread about this.

I have watched first 5 eps and I am addicted. I love it!

I think it's funny, original, poignant, real, and really well-written. I noticed Judd Apatow of Knocked Up fame produced it...

FrillyMilly · 23/11/2012 20:08

I am actually enjoying it, although I'm not much older than the girls on it so can see some of my friends in them. I agree it's not laugh out Loud funny although I did when the dad fell out the shower and she had to help her mum. It seems more similar to British programmes than any us ones. It's much less glossy than most us shows.
