Lazy Town - rubbish programming??

I hadn't seen Lazy Town before, so when it was aired at "prime" toddler time of 7:30-8am this morning, with its American accents, judgemental attitudes and way too grown-up themes and attitudes, I was shocked. Even the harmonious CBeebies official message board is full of messages slagging it off. Have the Beeb made a huge mistake, or is it just me?

Nope I don't like it either.

Marne · 03/04/2006 16:34

I hate it but dd1 loves it i dont think it should be on cbeebies, its to grown up and tacky.

skerriesmum · 03/04/2006 16:43

Hmm. Ds is just 3 and I allow him to watch it. Perhaps Robbie is a bit too scary looking though for younger toddlers, and there was an episode with a vicious-looking robot dog lately that I didn't think was appropriate. Generally I agree with the message that fitness and vegetables are good though, and I love the songs and dancing (saddo I know!)

hulababy · 03/04/2006 16:45

DD, almost 4, likes the singing and dancing. We watch it on Nick Jr. Didn't kmow it was on CBeebies too.

snafu · 03/04/2006 16:47

Awful, awful, awful. Can't imagine why it's on CBeebies - definitely CITV fare Smile

NatalieJane · 03/04/2006 16:50

DS (just 4) loves it! He watches it on Nick in the afternoon, he gets up doing the dances and songs, I can't see it doing him any harm, but he is older.

Spagblog · 03/04/2006 16:51

Hate it, DS is scared of Robbie whatsit and my stomach turns whenever I see that himbo doing his one armed push ups - who is he supposed to impress?

WestCountryLass · 03/04/2006 21:25

DS is 4 and he loved it.

serenity · 03/04/2006 21:36

All of mine love it from DD aged 2 up to DS1 who's 8. We watch it on Nick jr, but I was surprised it came onto CBeebies.

DS1 and 2 (5 and 2) both love it. It was on Cbeebies in the morning (about 8.30am) on BBC2 ages ago!

snafu · 03/04/2006 21:41

I knew it reminded me of something, lockets Smile

serenity · 03/04/2006 21:44

Very tempted to get DD \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Official-Lazy-Town-STEPHANIE-Costume-age-3-4-lazytown_W0QQitemZ9305820331QQcategoryZ90635QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\this} as she likes to join in with all the dancing.

Hattie05 · 03/04/2006 21:47

DD loves it. Isn't it Australian?

cod · 03/04/2006 21:47

serenity · 03/04/2006 21:50
