I love the films (RDJ/Jude Law) and just watched the US version Elementary with Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.
Will I like the BBC Sherlock or is it a version too much??

It's very easy to like the first time you watch :)

And different enough from both the films and Elementary so as not to be overkill.

wintera · 30/10/2012 19:04

Watch it - its fabulous! I love it, can't wait for the third series.

Llareggub · 30/10/2012 19:06

I absolutely loved it.

HRH008 · 30/10/2012 19:07

It´s brilliant ... I DARE you not to like it!

LoveMyBoots · 30/10/2012 19:07

What wintera said!

ISeeThreadPeople · 30/10/2012 19:12

Oh it's brillig.

cocolepew · 30/10/2012 19:19

Was Elementary any good? I have it recorded.

cocolepew · 30/10/2012 19:19

Sherlick is great btw.

cocolepew · 30/10/2012 19:20

I liked Elementary. A bit RDJ with the drug addiction but a female Watson is a nice twist.

I'm now baffling myself with the similarities/differences unaired pilot and A Study in Pink.

I wasn't sure if it was the same story lines as bbc sherlock.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 30/10/2012 19:45

It is brilliant. By far the best of the bunch!

Written by two people who know the canon inside and out, there are lots of little nods to the original stories.

Plus it's got The Cumberbatch!

It's fucking brilliant! Watch it!

HauntedLittleLunatic · 30/10/2012 19:48

Is it on at the mo? I only saw the 3 pilot episodes...

LetUsPrey · 30/10/2012 19:51

You'll love it. The writing is fantastic, as is the acting.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 30/10/2012 20:19

Haunted, that was the first series. There are only 3 episodes per season:

Series 1
A Study in Pink
The Blind Baker
The Great Game

Series 2
A Scandal in Belgravia
The Hounds of Baskerville
The Reichenbach Fall

The "clues" for the 3 episodes of series 3 are "rat, ribbon, bow"

HauntedLittleLunatic · 30/10/2012 21:04

Where can I catch up on series 2 (i might have them on my sky box actually...must check...)?

When is series 3 on?

Will I need to have seen series 2 before series 3?

antlerqueen · 30/10/2012 21:15

I think series 3 starts filming next year. And the second series ends with a bit of a cliffhanger so it might be best to watch it first.

They do like to keep us waiting, so there's time to catch up :D I don't know how, other than the Dvd.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 30/10/2012 21:20

Series 3 starts filming in January so it will probably be summer/autumn before it reaches our screens

Yes definitely watch series 2 before 3 comes out, the final episode in particular is crucial to the next series.

If you don't have them on your Sky box you will be able to get them from Love Film and the like. Otherwise, it's only £6.50 on Amazon Grin

HauntedLittleLunatic · 06/11/2012 08:13

Gah...just found episode 1 and 2 on my sky box but not 3....

Jingleflobba · 07/11/2012 10:30

I am desparate to know how they are going to explain the ending of the Reichenbach Fall...

showtunesgirl · 07/11/2012 11:01

Just watch it again, it really is self-explanatory.

Though I have to say it also helps that I sometimes work at St Bart's Hospital where it was filmed and I've stood outside and had a look at vantage points. Grin
