Who filled up the last thread? Hmm?

All I wanted to say was Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

No!! I don't like him and he's a pants actor.

There is so much frustration downstairs.

I think Carson has known but not wanted to admit that Thomas is gay for years and years. So that probably softened his responses - if it had been Jimmy for example he'd have been out on his ear straight away.

Next week looks brilliant. Who is Rose the party animal? Some distant cousin or what?

HazeltheMcWitch · 28/10/2012 23:18

I'm rubbish at the cousiny relationships (1st? 2nd? Removed?) but she's Lady Rose MacClare, daughter of Lord 6's cousin Susan, the Marchioness of Flintshire.

Am loving the new journo. Really hope Edith can get some jollies with him.

LineRunner · 28/10/2012 23:39

Annie Walker from the Rovers Return used to take The Lady. Rita had to keep it for her in The Kabin.

dapplegrey · 29/10/2012 06:52

The Lady magazine still exists and is run from its original premises In Covent Garden as mentioned in Downton. It was started by the Mitford sisters' maternal grandfather and still owned by his descendants.
Rachel Johnson sister of Boris was hired to increase its circulation, but annoyed the owner by putting in too much about sex!

Animation · 29/10/2012 07:46

Oh no poor Thomas! It's going like you all predicted!! Sad

I'm hanging to the hope now that it's not unrequited - and we find out in the last episode, just in the nick of time, and that the other guy didn't really want to report it to the police - it was just a defence mechanism......

Confused
ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 08:24

Well, I enjoyed that [hgrin] all of the Upstairs ladies in paler mourning purple for the christening.

Loved pickle saying to Ld. G. 'Lydia loved you with all her heart and would've wanted you to be at the christening' He's shaping up well what him and Edith !!

Liked Rules restaurant; It's real 'cos I've been there twice (boastful emoticom)

I predict James (who's a proper little ladies' man BTW Grin) and Daisy getting it together and running the farm after FIL pops his clogs!

Thomas will go and be a valet to a nice gay mon in Soho or somewhere

Loved bates and anna happy at last in little cottage.

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 08:26

Sorry I meant what about Pickle and Edith ??

diddl · 29/10/2012 08:29

PLease can Edith have someone of her own-not a sister´s cast off.

Not quite the right phrase here, but ykwim.

James is gay, I think, but scared of showing it.

Even so, Thomas is older & surely taking advantage of his position-plus it´s illegal!!

SuePurblybilt · 29/10/2012 08:31

I was laughing at the different accents of Oirish Branson and his mustachioed
brother.
I thought they were steering Edith into a clinch with Matthew - as he was being nice to her - but the newspaper man is a better plot. Are they purely going with 'posh girl marries down' as a storyline though? Not only has it been done, it's been done by them, in series one and two.

Animation · 29/10/2012 08:38

I also didn't like Matthew's pursed lip (sex face) Confused - when Mary kissed him!

MorrisZapp · 29/10/2012 08:41

Every episode of DA plays like a finale - frantically rushing through storylines so quickly that blinking becomes strictly confined to ad breaks.

Has Lord G forgotten the death of his youngest daughter? He seemed pretty chipper to me. And Edith, thank goodness she hasn't let her public jilting get her down at all.

As for the plot involving the kitchen maids, the exceptionally tall footman, the conniving O'Brien and two men one of whom is openly gay (hello!) and the other of whom can't decide if he's a friend of Dorothy or an outraged ladies man - I give in. Hands in the air. I am actually lost.

Animation · 29/10/2012 08:43

Diddl - yes I got the impression James might be gay - and I thought Thomas came on way too strong too quickly in the bedroom like that. It was like woooaaaahhh!

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 08:45

But *Sue remember that Pickle was working at DA for years and obviously 'anglicised (sp)? his accent deliberately,to get his legover Sybil to create a good impression for posh family [hgrin].

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 08:46

Sorry for the typos!!

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/10/2012 08:59

Omg poor Thomas. That was heart rending. I thought Carson was going to smooth it over but it would appear not. No reference! A sentence to a downward spiral surely. On the other hand Thomas was far too rash. Not that I couldn't feel the sexual tension from my living room but I was silently yelling 'why are you believing anything O'Brien says to you'
GBS seemed to shrink slightly after her christening. Very cute in her lace shawl in her cot.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/10/2012 09:00

Am LOL at 'the exceptionally tall footman'

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 09:15

IamShe I think GBS should now be Big Beautiful Baby Sybil!!

I forgot the tall footman is mean O'Brien's nephew he's a real chip off the old block (if you can say that about a nephew and Aunt Grin)

MorrisZapp · 29/10/2012 09:42

Help a blonde, anybody? Did O'Brien invent the ETFs comments about how James fancies Thomas? And if so, to what end?

SuePurblybilt · 29/10/2012 09:51

Oh is that is Pp? Grin Not that they came from two entirely different counties?

Is anyone else concerned for the horses? Series one and two they were riding out and hunting regularly. Now Matthew has a car, there's not a ned in the place. I am concerned for the jobs of the outdoor staff that are never mentioned or heard from you understand.

O'Brian DID invent the comments, as part of the ongoing feud (hiding shirts, telling the gormless valet that OB was leaving so LadyG was cross etc). She is stirring it up for her own evil ends, innit?

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 10:01

Yes I'll trymorris but I'm a blonde too Grin O'brien has gone from being bosom buddies with Thomas to hating his guts. No on here knows the reason why unless she's pushing her nephew to succeed at his expense. Yes she deffo has invented the gayness of James to get Thomas into deep shxx.

Sue not only are their accents totally different they seem to come from very diff. classes; maybe the S.W.s are grooming pickle to become a proper part of the upstairs family [hgrin]

diddl · 29/10/2012 11:34

I´m not sure why anyone feels sorry for Thomas tbh.

He´s been drooling over Jimmy, getting too close & touching him unnecessarily!

Even if J is gay-why should he put up with that-he might not even like Thomas!

ppeatfruit · 29/10/2012 11:58

Agree diddl He can always have a wxxx (to lower the tone) Grin

MarthasHarbour · 29/10/2012 12:14

much as i have no sympathy for Thomas, i do fancy him a lot bit

so did anyone else come over all unnecessary when Thomas was in his room getting all angst ridden and imagined-him with a stiffy when he was about to accost Jimmy.
