What sort of comedy do you like? I'm enjoying the reruns of Not Going Out atm with Lee Mack.

I also used to like Larkrise to Candleford on a Sunday.

A town called Eureka - sci if and comedy-ish in one go.

The Gilmore Girls is great. Vert fast, sharp humour, lots of pop culture references and some nice storylines. Plus not so complicated you ned to keep 100% attention on it all the time (unlike the West Wing which is my other suggestion!)

Brideshead Revisited is brilliant.

The Wire, doesn't fit your criteria but it is amazing and I still think about it six months after we finished watching it!
