I love escapist, American television in other words....that and looking at France and fit men in lycra.

Have had Sky since February this year (and had little/limited TV in previous 5 years, so have not seen much of 24, Lost, Hustle, etc)... right now I particularly like:

Dynamo (OK, rather like Derren Brown - find the shows challenge belief!)
(Dynamo seems to only be on Watch now and then)

I have no idea how many of these would now be 're runs' for others who have been viewing TV all through the last 5-10 years, and of course, with 'new' shows such as Continuum, how long they last will depend on US viewing figures, as some get killed off far too soon (IMO).

Looking again at my list, mine also seem to be of the American escapist category (+ crime of course), but I do enjoy some Brit content, too...

Similarly for my taste in films... mostly US and mostly 'action' / sci-fi (typically Bruce Willis, etc) though Jason Statham films also on list.

Castle looks good and I love Nathan Fillion, but I've missed them all so probably too late to start watching, ditto Homeland. So much UK tv is reality-based, I get sick of it really. I do like Luther though and Above Suspicion.

I love things like QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, but I don't stress if I miss episodes.

Ooohh I'm liking Continuum so far (all of two episodes!) and I've got strangely hooked on Person of Interest (at least another season of that as S2 has just started in the US, although I'm watching it UK pace)

I forgot Grimm, Sherlock, Merlin and Hawaii 5-0. I like CSI: Miami too. I will have to check out Continuum.

OP - while Castle sometimes has some corny lines, it's worth going back to the start (think they have shown 4 or more series in the last few months, one after another, like a continuous loop [Criminal Minds also] so you could most likely go back to the very start if you can spare the time.

How could I forget ER Snapespeare! I loved that, especially series 1-4. It was quite a trailblazer in tv at that time, the fast pace and dialogue, the camera-work.....

Am in hospital ATM. Poor little me. Address for flowers and chocolate to come. Have enough drugs. Delayed coming in so I could get sky+ down to a reasonable amount. Yes , I am telly-obsessed. Down to 85% that's not enough I told you I was obsessed. Am in showbiz journalism (arts and entertainment when writing for posh papers so can watch previews online. Sadly there's no free wifi in here. Bloody nhs cuts. Don't they know I may go into terminal decline? .

Will sort this out later. I am ignoring the perfectly reasonably-placed Downton thread on here but have had a massive rant to mnhq about the dolt who posted a spoiler on Aibu. I know Downton is predictable but there are some standards.

Anyway looking forward to walking dead and American horror story - content is too adult for the fx channel site so it's on fox international so I can get them today.

whoknows it's hard to miss spoilers like "who'd have guessed that everyone died" in thread titles but I've learned to avoid likely threads and topics and be alert to spoilers in copy posted by idiots and do a little hop with my eyes.

I'm enraged by the number of people in my job who can't tell the difference between a review or profile and giving the whole plot away.

Sometimes they do it because they're stupid and sometimes it's because they've a word count and CBa to think of words not lifted from the screening notes.

I used to have a secretary who'd vet contributed copy for spoilers. I miss her.

Forgot dexter, weeds and modern family. Am refusing to accept that Shiny Dave really likes it. I think a box set was placed on his shelf along with the other things in the number 10 flat to give the impression that he and his droopy-drawers wife were just like the rest of us.

Limited - yes, it's quite an art trying to write reviews without spoiling, I notice it reading them on Amazon. I did one of those MN book swap things last year and found it quite challenging to review without spoiling. I'm on a long running Corrie thread which we all agreed upfront would be spoiler free and it's nice. I'm on the long Downton one but avoided it on Sun/ Mon on purpose.
