Is it worth getting into Downton?

I'm on Mat Leave so looking for box sets. Is Downton actually as good as everyone says it is?

Yes! It's fab. I was a latecomer, but watched series 1 and 2 over a weekend. I am hooked.

It is brilliant in its crapness. I love it most of all things - how have you survived this long without it?
Get watching and catch up, you'll be at the edge of the sofa come Christmas.

If you like well acted and directed but slightly cheesy historic soaps with lavish costumes and sets (in a real house) also slow enough to almost make sense of then you'll love it sastra I do; probably more a female thing than blokey!

I also tried to get into it late & found it annoys me beyond belief - but I realise I'm in the minorty.

It's utter rubbish but very, very watchable

Postbellum IKWYM the Anna/ Bates plot pisses me off but the rest is very enjoyable esp. if you compare it to other historic stuff like The Hour.

High quality tosh - it's what maternity leave was designed for.
