Just read that Katya Virshilas isn't returning to the show, a new dancer Karen Hauer is taking her place.

"I am super excited to come to the UK and join the Strictly Come Dancing team," she [Johnny Ball's new partner] said in a statement.

"When I found out that I will be dancing with Johnny Ball, I looked him up online."

I looked him up online... And realised that I would probably only be appearing for 1 week?

Ooh, I've actually heard of her! She's not the current ten dance champion though- BBC are a bit out of date

And there must be somebody writing that with a sense of humour, to cut it there

Apparently she said "When I found out who my dance partner was, I looked him up online. What an extraordinary person he is! Smart, talented, enthusiastic, accomplished, successful. I truly can't wait to meet him! I?m sure we are going to have the most amazing time while practicing [sic] and I am really looking forward to our first rehearsal, what an amazing experience it will be!"

Dilys I was only kidding. Aliona remains my goddess of the dance floor (and the mother of our twins) and my SCD name change will reflect this. [phew]

We laughed at the 'I looked him up online' and that being the end of it thing too. Think you're right that was someone with a sense of humour

What is 10-dance?

Very much looking forward to Friday now - although it's not on until 9pm! Really? I can't stay up that late, not even for Strictly

Incidentally does anyone know when you find / found out about the ticket allocation thing if you applied online?

10-dance means she does ballroom and Latin (each has 5 dances). Most dancers these days specialise in one or the other, hence why Anton and Erin are, er, weaker in their Latin and some of the Latin pros have limited sway in their ballroom.

I think I'm right in saying that Vincent and Flavia were 10-dance champions at one point.

Ah so a bit like the decathlon or heptathlon then :)

They were UK ten dance champions (have just looked it up) 2002-2006.

She was world ten dance champion 2009 and 2010. Actually thinking about it, she mustn't be competing this year because I'm fairly sure the world championships is on Friday.

I'm going to miss the first shows - we've got to go to a wedding on Saturday and we're travelling up on the Friday so not sure if we'll be able to see Friday's show either

Ooh, I had better keep it quiet from DH that Aliona is out of action as she is his main reason for putting up with SCD. However, if Ola and Flavia are there then I'm sure he will cope.

Really hope smug trained dancer DvO goes quickly, but I suspect Lisa will go first.
