Strictly Come Dancing 2012 - who's getting excited?

Just read that Katya Virshilas isn't returning to the show, a new dancer Karen Hauer is taking her place.

Who will be in this year's line up?

And more to the point, that site has Aliona's dress from the , which I still think was the high point of last season. Even Dave Arch's Wunnerful Wunnerful Singer did a great job. I sob.

ScatterChasse · 18/09/2012 09:38

It also still has Hayley Holt's fluorescent green waltz dress Grin

Joking aside, that one is lovely, but the Viennese waltz dress I'd have had like a shot was Karen's from series four (that I can't find a picture of anywhere!).

FrankelSaysRelax · 18/09/2012 11:05

They do get purchased quite quickly. My teacher told me she saw Rachel Stevens' Foxtrot dress (lovely purple number) on a teenage girl on the competition floor about 3 weeks after it had appeared on tv!

LetUsPrey · 18/09/2012 19:01

I would love Karen Hardy's dress from the Argentine Tango she did with Ramps. .

I think there's a brief glimpse of the VW dress in the VT beforehand ScatterChasse

FrankelSaysRelax · 18/09/2012 19:03

If I'm rembering the right dress it was very Chanel wasn't it. Or am I getting muddled with Kelly Brook's dress?

MarysBeard · 18/09/2012 19:40

How about Alexander Armstrong as presenter? He could present anything. And he can dance - look! Wink

Bossybritches22 · 18/09/2012 20:09

I'd love to see AA do it fab suggestion!

OodHousekeeping · 18/09/2012 20:17

He'd fit thr light entertainment bill. I'm worried about Anton or Vernon Kay getting thejob.

Outofnappies · 18/09/2012 20:31

Ooh I agree with you oodhousekeeping, please don't let the awful toothy vernon Kaye step up as Brucie's replacement. I read an interview with Tess earlier this week in which she commented that Bruce sees vernon as "a bit of a protege" ...dear god no! Anton would be marginally better, but I get the feeling he is just treading water, maybe even volunteering to partner the not-so-good ladies to mask the fact he is not as good as the other professional men until Bruce retires...

RedBlanket · 18/09/2012 20:34

Alexander Armstring I the best suggestion I've ever seen for a while.

How much do the dresses go for?

knottyhair · 19/09/2012 06:25

YES YES YES YES to "Zander" Smile. Yes please.

knottyhair · 19/09/2012 06:25

I mean "Xander" Blush.

CastielsTrenchcoat · 19/09/2012 07:37

Saw the latest ad for SCD last night and yep, DVO still annoying.

FrankelSaysRelax · 19/09/2012 08:02

RedBlanket, they're all "price on application". A hand-made competition dress will usually set you back anything from £200+, depending on how much detail, fabric, etc is used. The Strictly dresses have added provenance, so usually start from about £400.

I have to say the sizing must fail to take into account the give in the fabric. I measured my waist the other night and it was 74cm. Now I'm a size 10 and I'm sorry but I don't believe for a moment that Holly Valance's waist was 8cms smaller than mine!

[possibly deluding self]

MarysBeard · 19/09/2012 10:15

Thanks for the comments re Alexander Armstrong! I might contact the Beeb, or suggest it to him on Twitter...but then he may have already been asked, declined etc. They must be lining up some kind of successor for Brucey for when he pops his clogs hangs up his tap shoes.

gettingeasier · 19/09/2012 16:23

Haha at that clip

Well I still maintain Paddy is better than Bruce Smile

So where is a good site for SCD gossip - linky pleeese

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2012 21:03

Another vote for Alexander Armstrong. They also need a woman presenter. I'd do it, but I can't dance very well, I've no experience in telly, I'm crap at chatting with folk, and I swear quite a lot.

Where do I sign?Grin

gettingeasier - Digital Spy website is usually very good for gossip but there are approximately a bajillion SCD threads and forums. I wonder if The Mighty Monkfish is doing a blog this year? Must check. Thanks again to whoever linked to it last year!

ScatterChasse · 19/09/2012 21:42

Here you go LetUsPrey Grin

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2012 21:51

Ah feck - I knew it wasn't Monk fish. Blush

Must practice. Monkseal. Monkseal. Monk seal.

Thanks ScatterChasse

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/09/2012 22:14

You seriously have to start getting Alexander Armstrong quoted as a Brucie replacement... he would be great. someone tweet it to the telly types.

what about barrowman? too musicals? or another past contestant? (clearly my subtext is anyone but brucie or that lanky twat vernon).

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2012 22:17

I have been reading the Monk Seal blog - tears of laughter already.

I have noticed he does the Great British Bake Off too!! DH gets a bit annoyed when I cackle laugh a lot when I'm reading tinternet. He's going to be proper pissed offGrin

OodHousekeeping · 19/09/2012 22:19

Barrowman could take over both Bruce and Tess ?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/09/2012 22:26

"Tracy Beaker: who is a midget and gets groped by Bruce worst out of everyone. She is partnered with Vincent, because she is a midget, and so is he, and I hope for Movie Week they dance to something by The Lollipop Guild."

i howled at this. Grin

LetUsPrey · 19/09/2012 22:29

My personal favourite so far:

"Tess is trying to be funny, but MORE so, like your mum?s fifth reading of a Christmas cracker joke she doesn?t get, hoping the gurning and eye-flicking will suddenly make things click in her head".

The accuracy is amazingGrin

WilfSell · 19/09/2012 23:46

Cat Deeley does it in the US right? Even that one that does the lottery who used to be on This Morning would be less dead behind the eyes. Give it to Fern Britton even after she gets voted off. Or Fearne Cotton who might need to go a bit more grown up once she's had her sprog. Ooh, now Lauren Laverne, she'd rock it and lend some edge.

In fact, almost ANY blonde generic TV presenter who can actually, er, present TV could do it.
