So just watched the season 7 finale and thought I'd start a thread for people who love it as much as me !!

Anyone have any predictions or theories ?

Omg Jason Segel is leaving??!! Nooooo !!!!

I really really hope we have already seen the mother in it . Did kinda hope it was Victoria .

Is season 8 the last season then ?

Last I read they are thinking about negotiating the cast for season 9 -the writers are hoping to go to season 9 if everyone agrees.

Sounds like the writers pretty much know what's going to happen and can make it last for one to two more series.

As long as Ted doesn't end up with Victoria I'll be happy!

But I like that! They're all a but boring now, which makes it ok that I'm a lot bit boring.

I'm not sure they could string it out much further though. Surely 8 will be the last (much as I love it).

I really don't want it to be someone new and random though I really want us to have seen her before .

Was anyone surprise at who was at the other end of the door to ted at the very end ? I was ! I really thought that was done with .

Do you think he will meet the mother then it will end ? Or think the will carry on with them dating etc ?

I love this show and have a bit of a thing for Ted if I'm honest :o

Missed the finale but looking forward to watching when I get a chance.

I know its someone who featured in the show a while ago and I know that the ending was one of the first scenes they ever shot so the characters didn't age and then meet looking older than theyare supposed to be so I can imagine it must be really frustrating for the cast as well as us fans :o

I'm pretty sure that the mother is Barney's sister, as Ted refers to him as "Uncle Barney" throughout the show. Also I think Barney marries Robin - Ted calls her " your Aunt Robin"!!

Yes he uses Aunt/uncle for all of them.

Also just read that the cast originally agreed on an 8 series limit so it should wrap itself up in the next series.

peanut, that's very interesting. I kinda hope so, kinda don't. I'd be sad to see it finish but all good things..... It would be like SATC but hopefully without the bad second film to follow.

Love Jason Segel the most. I don't think they could do it without Marshall, so if he's not doing it, they'll have to finish it at season 8.

Barney doesn't have a sister. He has a half brother. And while his brother is gay, he is already married, so I doubt very much Ted will be marrying him!

Ted however does have a sister. I doubt he'll be marrying her either (because then it would be Hillbilly HIMYM)

I think that Ted refers to Robin and Barney as Aunt and Uncle just because they are friends iyswim.

I often used to call my mum and dad's friends Aunty and Uncle when I was little. Ones that were very close friends though, not just random acquaintances!

He also refers to lily and Marshall as Aunt and Uncle too.

Don't people usually refer to Godparents as Aunt/Uncle X too? My nephews do.

He does refer to all of his friends as aunt/uncle, a lot if people do this with very close friends and their DC.

Barney doesn't have a sister.

I love barney sometimes I still can't believe he is gay in RL he is such a good actor . Not really sure I want him and Robin to get together I like him with Quinn .

If teds wife ends up some random girl that we have never seen before I will be so annoyed .

I think the ending has only been films with bob saget and the kids as they are adults now - ted and co would age as the story started in 2005 an is ending (apparently) in 2013

I think it will be someone new or at least that we don't 'know' we may have seen them in cameo before. I'm convinced it will end with ted first meeting her and the voice over saying 'and that's how I met your mother' I don't think we'll see any of his relationship with the mother, that's not what the title says.

This always makes me laugh.
As much as I love Ted (which is quite a lot, it's only recently that Howard Wolowitz has invaded my dreams) it is a little bit creepy to tell your kids that much and then still talk about 'sandwiches'.

I think it's going to be someone we don't know. In an ideal world, I would like Stella back, but it can't be her, so I guess it's tough luck. The ending at the finale was just the one I wanted, and I'm very happy that's sorted!

Barney is without a doubt my favourite!
