Seriously, it's just brilliant.
Okay, I'm prepared to admit that it might only be brilliant if you are a fan of musical theatre, but, hey.

There is a longer thread on here somewhere. It has mixed reviews. I can't stand the singing and dancing myself. I will see it through to the bitter end as I like the story. I'll be surprised if there's a second season.

I like Smash although admit to jumping through the Katherine McPhee singing bits as I find her boring. I am going to buy the download as I no longer get it on TV :(

Dominodonkey · 19/07/2012 03:20

The Night Watch - There is a second season. it was commissioned months ago. A few cast members are definitely leaving.

Secret7 · 19/07/2012 03:27

The show started off so well but I'm now finding it corny and the writing predictable. Trouble is, once I've started watching something I stick to the bitter end.

Should have learned my lesson with Lost.

MmeBucket · 19/07/2012 03:56

I'm from America, and we've already had all the episodes shown here. The general consensus (which I will have to say I firmly hold with) is that the show got cornier and more predictable and just plain stupid as it went along, and one got very resentful of how they were trying to shove it down the audience's throat that Kat McPhee's character was the star with the "it" factor so much more than Megan Hilty's character, when Megan Hilty has so much more talent and range than Kat McPhee. It didn't help that Kat McPhee has done several interviews that show she feels that she's so talented. The good news is that they've got a new show runnerm and gotten rid of Ellis (by far the most hated role on the show over here), Julia's son (by far the most laughed at acting "talent" from the show) Julia's husband, and Dev, so there's a chance it could get better next year.

TheNightWatch · 19/07/2012 07:03

It's hard to believe the acting could be do dire with all those big names.

wheresthepopcorn · 19/07/2012 15:06

Boo, I liked Dev. I also think I like it because there are some 'older' women in it (by 'older' I mean older by Hollywood standards not my standard)

lighthousekeeping · 22/07/2012 20:31

Sadly those older women are a shadow of their former selves!! how much work have they had done between them?

I literally fast forwarded most of this weeks. The dire showing of the musical, the phoney musical church scene and anything else that had singing in it. I was hoping Dev woud finish with her.

FrillyMilly · 22/07/2012 21:15

I think they need more storyline and less singing and this comes from someone who loves musicals. What was the point of the English director/uma Thurman affair? I don't mind it but I'm not loving it. I can't even remember what most of the characters are called.

lighthousekeeping · 22/07/2012 21:31

I only remember Ivy because I like the name.

And, again, we are back to who will play Marilyn?

I cant beleive theres a second season signed up.

NellyBluth · 24/07/2012 10:07

The problem is definitely that Megan Hilty is a) more talented and b) so good, so obviously good as Marilyn, that it makes absolutely no sense that she keeps getting passed over. And god, yes, the random singing and dancing while getting dressed/eating dinner etc is just irritating. Though the big musical numbers are good. Like secret7, though, I'm too far in now to not watch. Its irritating.
