I'm an old gimmer but I just missed him in his heyday.
He was so cool and had an amazing voice. Anybody watching?

Yes, and Zombie is also looking forward to Woody Guthrie at 11.30. Grin

Love Roy Orbison!

Amazing voice.

I wish i grew up in the 50s and 60s.

Real music and singers then.

Pops73 · 13/07/2012 22:35

Am I being a crazy lady or is that Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Costello with him?

LapsedPacifist · 13/07/2012 22:38

LemarchandsBox, pretty much. Zombie was 15 when he died. He was an enormous influence on the artists that Zombie did grow up listening to.

And then there was Arlo with Alice's Restaurant... Grin

Pops73 · 13/07/2012 23:02

I was just thinking that looked like KD Lang. Thank you, Sarky!

Pops73 · 13/07/2012 23:03

How amazing would it have been to be in that audience!

SarkyWench · 13/07/2012 23:16

I have no memory of Springsteen being that good looking.
Odd.

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/07/2012 23:20

I remember Arlo and Alice's Restuarant, and I learnt about Woody that way.
I'll be watching too. Zombie.
My parents were into all that Peter, Paul and Mary, and Dylan. I grew up with that music.

Zombie had her picture on the front page of the local paper when she was 16 with PP&M. Dylan and Baez lived in Zombie's home town for a while. Rumour had it that Postively Fourth Street was written about her home town.

God, Zombie misses those days.

LadyBeagleEyes · 13/07/2012 23:42

Wow Zombie, I'm 56 so (I think) not much younger than you.
I loved Joan Baez too.
I remember all the music though. There were some amazing lyrics then, in a couple of a hundred years, they will be the classic poets.

Zombie is 60, LBE. We lived with Zombie's grandparents and her uncle is 9 years older than she is. So she was listening to all this music from the late 1950s onwards.

my mum and dad love him

i always thought he was blind - he wasn't

Lottapianos · 13/07/2012 23:53

One of my favourite voices ever. The stuff about his first wife and two little boys as heartbreaking - I had no idea Sad
