Because it starts tonight!

Much more exciting than football, or yet more tennis.

OP posts:

Yes, I'm not keen on Astana either....

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 12:48

I don't know about Sagan but liquigas another team that makes me go Hmm

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 21/07/2012 13:20

Well there's certainly no love between Wiggo and Nibali. I think Sky, Europcar and Francais de Jeux have shown those teams a thing or two on this tour, good on them.

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 13:22

They sort of buried the hatchet but easy to be maganimous when kicked someone's arse

Those are Smile teams.

What am I going to do after tomorrow?

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 21/07/2012 13:30

I know, I will be lost! The Tour has helped take my mind off a crappy pregnancy and as a family we all sit and watch and enjoy it. Sad

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 13:31

This time next week is road race tho - that might help distract.

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 21/07/2012 13:37

I'm going into hospital on Thurs for a c-sec so hope all will be well and we can be back home by then to watch it....prob fall asleep with DC2 and miss it!

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 13:38

Lots of luck for Thursday- should be out by saturday with any luck

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 21/07/2012 13:40

Thanks, yes hope so!

LostInWales · 21/07/2012 13:43

How come I only just found you all now! I have been watching the tour totally without the opinion of MN and it's been awful Sad. What an amazing tour, Allez Wiggo and Froome and Cav and Milller Grin

prettybird · 21/07/2012 19:23

Didn't they do well!

I am persona non grata with ds as we will be on a plane and then driving up from Manchester to Glasgow tomorrow afternoon. We'll just have to keep the radio off and hope we get home on time to see the ITV4 Highlights Show.

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 21/07/2012 20:29

You'll have to try and avoid any coverage until you can watch it, hope nobody ruins it for you!

That was great and lovely seeing all the support for Bradley, including the French public, not just Brits. I will probably be quite emotional tomorrow when they all reach the Champs Elysee. It is annoying how it's only now the media are giving Bradley and cycling the coverage deserved, but better late than never. I do think Bradley should get a proper welcome when he returns to the UK, it is a huge deal.

frostyfingers · 21/07/2012 20:58

That was magic, but still not as good as Cav zooming up out of nowhere - I'm a Cav girl through and through. I am slightly amused at all the coverage now that we have a Brit 1,2 lined up, having watched and followed it for years and struggling to find a couple of paragraphs in the paper (bit like following the Welsh rugby team!).

I've a load of ironing lined up for tomorrow afternoon so that I can kid myself I'm not just watching the telly but "busy"! Am feeling slight withdrawal systems in advance already - a whole 6 days before I can see them again. I've got a day lined up for the Tour of Britain in September, and hope that some of the top names will be on that again.

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 22/07/2012 06:41

Oh, I'm def a Cav fan too. He was amazing the other day. It's about time newspapers etc had a proper cycling section instead of 2 line/second coverage under 'other'. We all know on this thread how great it is, but if it has a wider audience and encourages more children to take up the sport, then great, although Cav and Wiggo have helped big time.

The Tour of Britain is going past our friend's house so we will be setting up camp, all bring a cake and kids and wave our flags! Hope the weather is good and we see some great cyclists.

frostyfingers · 22/07/2012 11:29

We watched ToB in the Brecon Beacons - they whizz up those like it was a little slope, and they go so damn fast. You just can't get the impression of the speed and the sound of the bikes on the TV.

So looking forward to this afternoon - go Cav,go!

senua · 22/07/2012 15:11

Do you think that the DG of the BBC is watching the coverage?

We aren't cycling fans, have only tuned in for the last day but it seems very good. At the moment the cylcists are wandering through the French countryside and we are getting aerial shots of chateaux etc. The comentaor is knowledgeable about the sport but is also giving interesting snippets of info as they pass towns, villages and landmarks.

So different from the Jubillee fiasco.

Thistledew · 22/07/2012 16:27

YEEEESSSSS!

kandinskysgirl · 22/07/2012 16:32

What a finish!!!!!!!!!

noodleone · 22/07/2012 16:33

Woo hoo! DH just shouted so loud ds cried then DH had a little cry too

Thistledew · 22/07/2012 16:37

Aww, Cav cuddling his daughter whilst being interviewed.

Thistledew · 22/07/2012 16:57

You can see how absolutely knackered they all are now. Such an amazing physical effort.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/07/2012 16:58

Amazing result!!! And Cav was soo cute with his dd.

NickL · 22/07/2012 18:22

Super result pour le gentleman.

Now I have to try and forget the outfit Lesley Garrett deemed appropriate to wear in the international capital of fashion. Was it knocked up from a few spare cycling jerseys?

frostyfingers · 22/07/2012 19:34

Lesley Garratt was wrong, wrong, wrong for the national anthem. We should have had a nice orchestral piece that we could sing along with, not her caterwauling. I know she's a great singer, but I don't think on this occasion it was the right choice.

What a fab result - I'm so pleased for Cav, he really deserved and earned that - what a star he is. He is always so good when interviewed, and the cuddle he gave Delilah was wonderful, so proud to have supported British Cycling for the last 6 years or so.

WELL DONE SKY (esp Dave Brailsford), now let's go for gold next week.

Gigondas · 22/07/2012 20:43

A great afternoon- hope we have another next saturday.

not sure brad likes Lesley either
