Did anyone see this? I have a sensitive 3 year old who would love this sort of thing, but only if there are no upsetting bits, like Sharks being killed/trapped or smaller creatures being gratuitously munched.

ANyone help? DO I need to pre-vet?

Yes, we saw it and it was absolutely fascinating - last night's was all about the different species of whale, their habitats and migrating patterns. On the whole I'd say it would be fine for a 3 yo. Some of the filming was spectacular.

But, there was one bit where a mother and calf whale of one species on their migration to Alaska (I think) are set upon by a pod of whales from another species who separate the calf from the mother and eat it. Having said that, you don't see any nasty close ups of the chase and kill - but I would pre-vet, if you can, especially as it's described in some detail.

The other thing you might have to explain away is a whale's penis, which is in clear view, and looks about 12 foot long! Also the voice over is quite ... ahem ... descriptive of their various different mating processes, although that might go over your DD's head (I wouldn't know).

The one bit that you and she might find amusing (depending on your humour) is a certain species of whale that eat krill have large, red poos, which one of the scientists shows in close-up.

Thanks for that - not worried about the giant willy, but I think the baby-whale killing might be a tad too much!

Many thanks!

You don't really see the baby whale killing (there's no thrashing around and blood), but it's made obvious by the voice-over. It's only quite short, so you could fast-forward - or whatever!
