Alcatraz- exciting ending- loads of cliffhangers then- CANCELLED! No series two!

Gutted. This was a great series on watch that me and DH really got into. It was all leading somewhere, the loose ends were tangling tantalisingly, we were just about to get some answers- there were enough loose ends for a second series- them BAM. Cancelled. Nothing.

I am so miffed- we got really involved in it and now we will never know. 13 episodes and we will never know.

This has happened to me with so many shows that I really liked! Gutting!

I know Contender. It's maddening. All the mysteries were leading up to one big revelation which never happened as the writer was obviously saving the big stuff for series two.

The writer was JJ Abrams who wrote Lost, so it's not like we were in the hands of some crap rookie writer. And Sam Neill was in it! You can't cancel Sam Neill!

I loved it too. I've heard rumours that another network might pick it up or that they might carry on the story in a comic graphic novel.

What????? Nooo I can't believe they would be so cruel. I watch it and Grimm religiously! The acting was a bit rubbish, except Sam of course, but it was Aaron good story.

I thought it was good to have a female cop in the lead role with a male sidekick- what a refreshing change!

We are bemoaning a series we will miss- if you didn't watch it you can't really wade in. You sound like my Mum!

Oh Sinister, I wish someone would just tell me to go to bed with a hot drink. Instead I stay up and load the dishwasher, do the packed lunches and wash the cat bowls. (sob) it was good in the olden days.

Let's hope another network picks it up! It was all leading to the big reveal then....... credits rolls and nothing! I am trying to cope with the end of this AND Desperate Housewives.

I hate it when they don't bother to do a proper ending- they abandoned the remake of v too. How hard is it to wrap it up decently?

I think they were leaving so many loose ends to hook viewers (and the network) into a second series. I bet JJ Abrams never thought they would axe his series after one season! It really doesn't work as a one season series.

My DP is going to be gutted I liked it, but found some of the story lines not to my liking because I'm sensitive. I did say at the end though I bet it's cancelled. It didn't seem a v long first series.

Ah - is it not worth buying the series then? I was looking through us tv dvds as ideas for a birthday present for my parents to give me. I cam across Alcatraz and did a mumsnet search! Is it just going to be rubbish ending on cliffhangers?

Agreed. It was pointless watching the first series. I NEED resolution. Grrr.
