What really bugged me was the way Sir Alan had a go at the women's team for blagging free fruit. If the men had done it I think he would have praised them, but because he perceived the women as using their sexuality to get the stuff, they got bollocked for it!

Hattie05 · 23/02/2006 15:19

I thought it was just this week they were divdided by gender, not every week.

WeepingRicotta · 23/02/2006 15:19

I did like them selling apples for a fiver each though.

But they're all utterly unlikable, aren't they?

TheDullWitch · 23/02/2006 15:21

Well, they did. They put on low cut tops and went whoring around fondling male market stall holders for free mangos. They had better selling ideas - like selling a tray selection and splitting up and going to the Tube station - but they whored themselves to win. It was unpleasant and a shame for other women trying to get on in business because they just confirmed every stereotype going.

But imagine them going back to buy more fruit the next week: "darling, i don t want a kiss. If you want some shop soiled satsumas it ll have to be a blowjob."

spacedonkey · 23/02/2006 15:24

I'm not denying that they did, and I'm not saying I approve of it. What I am saying is that in Sir Alan's dog-eat-dog don't-care-what-it-takes world, his disapproval of the women's tactics was pure hypocrisy.

saadia · 23/02/2006 15:42

Agree with Dullwitch - found the women's behaviour very tacky and desperate, bit like that Ivana on the US version of the show who dropped her skirt for money.

Mazzystar · 23/02/2006 15:43

that curly haired one's a loon. tried to defend the team and got all upset. she'll be off soon

mousiemousie · 23/02/2006 15:45

because alan sugar is sexist and a misogynist amongst other character flaws

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 23/02/2006 15:45

They usually only stay in 'same sex' teams for the first couple of weeks - then he mixes them up - which is when things get really interesting.

Shame theirs not "Saira" (sp) of this series..

chestnutty · 23/02/2006 16:48

loved the guy who wanted to call the team "the A team" and just went on and on about it.

LIZS · 23/02/2006 16:58

Well if they'd had to organise themselves into 2 teams it would have taken forever. How long did the blokes take to decide their name. Agree about Jo (curly one)- too much nervous energy and high emotion to be rational. She so overreacted when she thought they'd automatically won , wouldn't have been so cocky if she knew AS had his doubts. Syed is just a self centred slime but he'll last for a bit I suspect.

lucykate · 23/02/2006 17:07

i missed it last night, chose brat camp instead. am still bitter about miriam getting the boot from the last series, and not that horrible man who claimed to own loads of property.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 23/02/2006 20:23

my theory is that the gender thing is nothing to do with alan - i doubt he would give a monkeys - i think it's the tv company assuming (possibly correctly) that it will make more interesting competitve dynamics and gives us all a basis on which to "analyse" - ie make generalisations about - their behaviour. i find it particularly objectionable.

curly haired one was a silly cow - wound me up bigtime! BTW one of the guys works for the same company as me and he most certainly has not "given up his job for the chance to become the apprentice" he has taken 12 weeks unpaid leave - still a big commitment but how many of them have really given up everything?
