Got virgin HD TV, excitingly switched the TV on and I can not tell the difference.

Before you ask, yes it is a HD TV and it is all set for HD

Can you not?

I can really tell the difference - it is very apparent (imo)

GitAwfMayLend · 08/06/2012 15:32

That's not very helpful is it. Grin

I can tell straight away, normally the difference is stark!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 08/06/2012 15:35

Was the programme you were watching made in HD? Most aren't, so watching on an HD telly won't make much difference. But try some of Attenborough's recent nature stuff and you'll notice it!

Hanleyhigh · 08/06/2012 15:36

Oh yes, good advice.

Also sport seems to look very different when shot in HD.

GitAwfMayLend · 08/06/2012 15:39

How you can really tell the difference - if you have Comedy Central on Virgin, watch Friends on Comedy Central (which is HD) and then if you watch it on Comedy Central +1 (which is not HD) the difference is really clear.

I don't know if Virgin tells you which programmes are HD or not - Sky highlights them. Not all programmes are HD anyway.

Watched Poland, Greece today and no difference, maybe something is broken

Sport is the only thing where I really notice the difference. Now not to imply you're like my BIL but you are watching on a HD ready tv aren't you?! DSis and BIL got a TiVo box and he said i can't tell any difference...til DSis pointed out it wasn't a HD ready tv Grin

If you look for differences, football is a good example. You can see blades of grass on the pitch, sweat on the foreheads of players mm nice
