When the girl died?
Am I just getting too soppy to watch this show any more? For some reason I found it terribly sad, I know people always die on this show but this seemed worse than usual...

That's what I thought. But I didn't cry b/c that scenario wouldn't have happened w/a child involved, even if the suspect had been firing at officers, the protocol would have been for them to take cover until he ran out of ammo, b/c it's a hostage situation involving a child. Then the hostage negotiation team would have been called in. Some stand-offs do end tragically, but usually when the suspect murders the hostage and then commits suicide.

There was a rather bizarre stranger abduction in Utah a couple of years back in which Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from the bedroom of her home and then held for many months, being brainwashed by her abductor, who sexually abused her, and his female partner. She eventually came to believe she was someone else, although someone recognised her and her abductor was cornered by police when he left her side momentarily.

But hey it's TV.
