Twilight - I just don't get it!

I have now watched the first 2 Twilight movies on C4 and I know I'm hardly their ideal viewer demographic but I really don't get the fuss. For instance, Bella is hardly the typical love interest, she's a stranger to shampoo and smiling so what is supposed to be her appeal? And why doesn't anyone notice that the vamp men all wear too much bad lipstick and white make-up? I do quite fancy Bella's dad though.

Cant do links on my phone but google Mark Reads Twilight....He read all of them and wrote a blog post on each chapter. Really funny

here have a nose round. I argued with my 73 year old MIL about this, she didnt like the game of Thrones books, because they werent realistic enough. quite how many vampires and werewolves she has met, I dont know.

I read them all after seeing the first movie and it became a bit of an obsession just to get them read. I gave it a fair chance, but I'm in no hurry to see the last film. Cobblers the lot of it.

Aah a thread with like minded people! How wonderfull! I read the first book and got part way through the second but it's just not for me. Bella is quite possibly the most irritating character ever created. I thought the first film was alright but New Moon and the third one were bloody awful. I also found myself getting annoyed with the make up and hair department too! The vamps look ridiculous. Looks like they've gone berserk in a talcum powder factory!

and lets not forget the "vampires can have sex and make babies" thing.

I didn't know about the babies as I thankfully haven't got the far. How does that work then, what with them being dead n'all?

Cos Bella isn't dead when she conceives. With a walking corpse, essentially. Nope, makes not a lick of sense and is really really boring to boot.

This blog is a favourite of mine, and no, I don't get it either. Two of the most unlikeable characters in history IMO.
