I think there was one where he discovered he could talk to women if he drank alcohol.

yes i remember that one. it was a few seasons ago. i've noticed teh last couple of episodes he has been talking infront of women without being drunk and no mention of it by the others, so as if it is a regular thing now.

There is always alcohol on the table. Last night he had a beer next to his pizza and in the resturant there was a big glass of wine next to him.

I asked DH that in the last couple OP! I believe he has a hip flask and is developing an alcohol problem...

There's been a beer or glass of wine lurking around in the last couple of episodes. I thought it was weirder that he was discussing getting married and none of his friends pointed out that he'd have to be permanently drunk. Perhaps should look into sortin that before looking for a wife...

oh really?? i didn't even notice. why isn't he being his usual drunken arse self then? yes wem, TBH this new series is a bit weird for me. raj talking infront of women has thrown me completely! i missed a few of the first episodes in this season so will have to wait until they become available online to see if there was any explanation for it.

DH and I play 'spot the alcohol' when Raj is speaking when a woman's present. If/when he gets married (d'ya think he's gay, really?) he'd have to be in a permanent drunken fug.

I assume he is developing a tolerance for it & not getting as drunk.

There was an episode where he was drinking non alcoholic beer & could talk to the woman until Howard pointed it out.

This is kind of spooky - I watched the first episode I've ever seen yesterday and yes, he drank a Grasshopper and talked to a blonde friend woman.
I really enjoyed the show - nice to have a new discovery.

Hassled, you should watch it from the beginning, it is a show you can jump in and out of and not get lost but if you watch from the beginning you really get to see the characters evolve like the penny and leonard story. Also you would get all the back story that they make references to, e.g soft kitty

oh yes, definitely watch from the start. i have seasons 1-4 and i have watched them back to back about 6 times over. i just dont get bored even though i know the jokes are coming. it's so funny.

the 'grasshopper' episode is funny. "i just need to drink a few lolitas before i meet the grasshopper" (or thereabouts)

Another one here who says to watch the seasons! DD got them for Christmas and we, as a family, have watched them loads and loads. If I'm ironing or feeling a bit blue, I watch them as they're easy watching and always make me cheerful.

Agree that Raj still needs alcohol to talk to women.

Have just watched the last of series 5. Fantastic and no let-down in the writing standard.

I thought that when he was on a date but there was always alcohol near him. My fave episode was whenSheldon got the cats!

Love this programme! DH got me a Soft Kitty t-shirt when I was in hospital and we watched it so much when I was pregnant baby DS gets excited by the theme tune.

Ok my theory re Raj - he can talk to women when he's had alcohol or believes he has, but it doesn't have to be enough to get him drunk - he's managed to speak to women via non-alcoholic beer and even a tiny piece of cake with rum in it before, so clearly it's psychosomatic and not that he has to get drunk to overcome his inhibitions. So if I was his friend I'd replace his booze with the non-alcoholic stuff and just not tell him. He just needs to think he's drunk.

I love any episode with Leonard or Sheldon's mothers and live in hope of an episode where both women coincide at the apartment.

The best episode ever would actually be the one where Sheldon gets the bird, is scared of it, befriends it, and then lurves it, then it flies off and he is rather annoyed. "come back you stupid bird so i can love you" love it!!
