Why doesn't bianca qualify for housing benefit or tax credits etc?

OP posts:
Whoopydofoxpoo · 27/04/2012 20:22

because she is going back to prison !

OnlyWantsOneTwoAndThree · 27/04/2012 20:23

This story line is so dullHmm

LetsKateWin · 27/04/2012 20:23

This is so depressing

Sirzy · 27/04/2012 20:23

She asked Janine about housing benefit but she wouldn't take it or something.

She must get tax credits etc though, and Whitney works so god knows why she doesn't help out!

Whoopydofoxpoo · 27/04/2012 20:25

Eastenders is depressing !

PleaseChooseAnotherNN · 27/04/2012 20:27

It's so sad that she is so desperate and I don't know why it has got that far.

Such a shame!

I think the problem is that she took out some loans from payday loan type companies so ran up lots of interest and missed a payment or two snowballing the debt. She doesn't get housing benefit because she doesn't have an official lease and doesn't want one because Janine would increase the rent. Not that I watch too much TV or anything.

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2012 20:34

I actually started crying when she was talking to Carol Blush

No one in Albert Square can claim tax credits, etc.]

I think this is how it will be for the whole of the UK in a few years, after Cameron has his way, but they are trialing it in one particular part of London (Walford)for now.

LillianGish · 27/04/2012 21:32

That scene made me cry too Lynette.

sheeplikessleep · 27/04/2012 22:14

I too am sobbing, after watching it on SkyPlus!

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/04/2012 11:37

I've just watched it and realised at the end that I'd been holding my breath for most of it. DH has just been made redundant so it's a bit close to home at the moment.

pumpkinsweetie · 28/04/2012 11:43

Bianca's life will mimic thousands of real life families soon if the goverment has their way.
At the moment with child tax credits and working tax credits Bianca shouldn't be in this position as those benefits are there for people on a low wage.
I think the storyline is good though as is teaching people pay-day loans are never a good way of getting money as the apr is pure ridiculous-but without these companies i suppose people would turn to much worser ways ie Loan sharks etc

2shoes · 28/04/2012 11:45

but Bianca has changed her jobs lots, so even if she got CTC or WTC it would keep stopping and starting.
as for HB she is getting mates rates rent, so Janine said she would charge her the market rent.
It is sad and made me sad.

youarekidding · 28/04/2012 11:59

Yep, ^^ re rent, Janine said she'd put it at market value if she gave Bianca a contract.

I would imagine she does get WTC and CTC but would not make a brilliant storyline her checking her entitlement.

LynetteScavo · 28/04/2012 18:54

How come Janine now owns Pats house? If I was Pat I'd have left it to Rickeeeeey.

YNK · 28/04/2012 19:00

Pat used the house as security for a dodgy loan to bail her son Simon out then found Simon couldn't pay her back. Janine bailed her out but took the house.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/04/2012 19:33

Disclaimer: I know it's not real.

As Albert Sq is right next to the Underground, it would be full of cars.
Even though there is a Parking Restriction in use, there would be no space.
Pat's house is the only one AFIAK to have a garage. If Janine rented it out, she'd make ££.

And I watched the catch-up this week, haven't watched EE for ages.
It still bugs me that Dot can't say her boss's name after 25+ years. It's a bit Hmm and meh.

LynetteScavo · 29/04/2012 08:54

Thnaks YNK. It's almost as if the writers/producers know what is going to happen next in EE, like pat dying, etc.
