the fight scene last night made me very uncomfortable. It was (i think) a bit clever too as it in the 60s this would not have been classed as dv but a feisty relationship

Of course he is but he is also a product of his social construct ie a patriarchal society. in those days we hadn't moved very far from the rule of thumb ie you could beat your wife with a stick so long as it was no wider than your thumb!
It's a fascinating show!
