there wasn't much coma stuff i it last night but the spoiler for next week showed him listening to his mum saying they were going to turn off the life support machine at a certain time and day..and him panicking .

Latz · 07/02/2006 21:13

Think there are 8 in total - last night was number 5 - says so in the tv mag

Racers · 07/02/2006 21:13

they said the life support would be switched off at 2pm and in the 70's bit, he is dealing with a hostage situation where someone is threatening to kill someone at 2pm!

alexsmum · 08/02/2006 10:13

someone said there is going to be asecond series so he's not going to die! i LOVE this programme!

foxinsocks · 08/02/2006 10:16

I didn't think the last episode was as good as the previous ones. I don't think much happened re the coma but he did see himself walking to a football game with his dad.

foxinsocks · 08/02/2006 10:18

I want him to either die or wake up after this series - I think I read on digital spy that they had recorded different endings. I just don't want it to get tedious - I think it's good at the moment because of the novelty but if I had to watch 20 episodes where he was still in a coma, it might start to get a bit wearing!

florenceuk · 08/02/2006 10:20

yes but then how do they spin it out to another series? Does he get hit by a bus and sent back to 1984?

foxinsocks · 08/02/2006 10:24

exactly florence!

perhaps he starts waking up partially from the coma but then goes back under and wakes up in 1984!

nikkie · 08/02/2006 20:24

Don't think a second series would work.
So 3 more left but they are switching the machine off in the next one? I guess he lives till the 8th tho'

oldandfat · 13/02/2006 23:01

i love this show....i will really miss it when it ends. i would like a second series but it probably would not be a good

mcmudda · 13/02/2006 23:04

Twas good tonight.

So is he in coma which has sent him back in time a la Quantum Leap or is he in coma and imagining it all from his childhood which is why all the coppers are bent?

Pixel · 14/02/2006 18:17

The second series has already been commissioned. Apparently they start filming in April. [hurrah]

Davros · 14/02/2006 19:57

I LOVE it too! BUT, last week Gene said "lunch", there is NO WAY he or anyone like him would have used the word lunch in those days. Why is he called Gene? Its not exactly a common 70s name for an English bloke, he'd be more likely to be Steve, Gary, Pete etc.

catsmother · 15/02/2006 10:58

Maybe it's a regional thing, being a Southerner, I don't know what was going on in Manchester in 1973 but I can definitely remember talking about "lunch" back then, as in "lunchtime" at school, or coming home "for lunch". Our evening meal was "dinner" or even "tea".

I agree Gene wasn't a common name, but assumed it was short for Eugene, admittedly still not common but guessing that he's meant to be early 40s in the show, then he'd have been born around 1930, when I think Eugene was more popular.

Potty1 · 15/02/2006 11:08

I agree Davros - would deffo be dinner and tea.

Davros · 16/02/2006 17:09

I'm just wondering if the name Gene is going to have some significance.... Gene Genie? Grasping now! When I worked in offices in the last quarter of the 70s blokes like Gene would definitely have said "dinner".

Dinosaur · 16/02/2006 17:15

Maybe it's just the David Bowie theme? Life on Mars? The Gene Genie?
