I am a Midwife myself so anything to do with birth or babies I am watching it.
This poor, brave woman is giving birth in front of her in laws!!! And her father in law is making very weird and inappropriate comments. What do you think about this show???

i have seen this and a few other american birth prog, i am ALWAYS amazed that they have the whole bloody family there when they give birth, mums, mil, fil, siblings, aunts etc, i saw one episode where as well as lots of family there they ahd skype and relatives in another country were watching and the positioned the camera so they could 'get a good view' Shock

i only had dp with me and one time a friend, oh and my ds1 saw his little sister born (he was 11 at the time) but no way in a million years would i want mil, fil, aunts, etc there!

TaylorSwift13Fan · 10/04/2012 22:12

Yeah! I feel exactly the same! I only had my partner and my sister with me with both of mine :)

I'm watching. There's a woman giving twins up for adoption on tonights show.

ggirltwin2pinot · 10/04/2012 22:17

agree it's odd having so many onlookers with your legs splayed open
especially your fil
he's bloody annoying

def different set up in the States, i tkae it the nurses are not midwives ?

ggirltwin2pinot · 10/04/2012 22:27

very patronising nurses

TaylorSwift13Fan · 10/04/2012 22:30

Hmm I would have done everything those nurses are doing, differently. I guess over here it's different to the States

Can't believe the inappropriate comments the father in law was coming out with 'get on all fours' and then he started making mooing noises. And then when she was obviously about to be sick he deliberately started talking about food to make her throw up. The most shocking thing is that her husband just sat there and let his father speak to her that way!

TaylorSwift13Fan · 10/04/2012 22:41

yellowdaffs He actually barked and somehow that made it feel even more uncomfortable to watch for me lol
my DP was sitting there laughing and I was sitting having this conversation with my DP saying how what the fil was saying was inappropriate, I bet he was sick of me!

Totally inappropriate! And the woman sat in the corner (guessing mother in law) also said nothing and allowed the barking noises to continue, she should have told her husband to shut up. Just relieved he wasn't in the delivery room making barking noises as she delivered....

SingingSands · 10/04/2012 22:47

I turned on just as the FIL was sent out of the room. Glad he wasn't there for the actual birth.

Interested to see how the adoptive story will turn out - emotional I guess.

TaylorSwift13Fan · 10/04/2012 22:58

The adoptive story was very emotional and still is because the next part where the twins are going with the adoptive parents is on right now

HOW emotonal was the adoption story? I was sobbing.

I just hope that the Mum can grow older, meet a nice man and have some more babies.

and it was lovely to see how happy the adopting couple were, and how their happiness made the birth mother feel better about her decision

They use alot of epidurals there though, jesus!!!! both mothers had them

Wants3 · 11/04/2012 13:44
