didldidi · 08/04/2012 08:34

Yes i realised last night what happened - i was a week behind and found another episode in the sky planner! all caught up now.

Dozer · 08/04/2012 23:21

He was ferdi in This Life and was / is v sexy IMO!

MyleeneCrass · 09/04/2012 09:18

I think it has to be Jack. Tamsin Greig has been amazing.

RabidEasterEgg · 09/04/2012 09:43

Loving this show, well written, well casts and well acted

PigeonPair · 09/04/2012 21:56

Glad I am not the only one to notice the change in Alan's accent!

diddl · 11/04/2012 14:14

Oh God I loathe Jack.

I can´t see what it is about him that they feel obliged to help tbh.

So he was/is their landlord-big bloody whoop!

Clawdy · 11/04/2012 14:48

Stopped watching for various reasons and can't catch up now. What did happen in the last episode? Were all the ends tied up? Who was with who?

Sabriel · 11/04/2012 15:10

I've been watching from the beginning but don't really get it, somehow. Jack unnerves me because he reminds me far too much of a boyfriend back when I was 17. Also having a problem with their ages. If they were supposed to all be about 17/18 in 1965 they should have been 34 ish last week, but didn't really seem to have moved on enough.

MinnieBar · 11/04/2012 15:19

Another one loving it here. Squirmed a bit in the early Charlie/Jack scenes as I totally did would have let a guy back in my knickers with the 'but he always comes back to me' argument (older and wiser now, plus better at picking men).

I love how in any drama set in The Past the decor and characters are always exactly of that era - realistically everyone wears clothes a few years old and doesn't update their soft furnishings annually, but in TV land it's clearly very important to get it spot on...

I scoffed too at the 'you owe him this' line. I would have been all 'not my problem and haven't you got any other flatmates in by now?' Grin

diddl · 11/04/2012 15:48

So I´m assuming that Lilly tells Victor that it´s Jack´s baby & that´s the reason that Charlotte & Victor split & Lilly & Charlotte fall out?

Sabriel · 11/04/2012 19:47

No, Charlotte told Victor it's probably Jack's. He said something about waiting until it was born to see what colour it was.

MinnieBar · 11/04/2012 20:14

She told him it was potentially some random guy from work who she slept with when she was hammered (paraphrasing). Because she knows if she said it was possibly Jack's he'd dump her quick-smart for still not being over him and quite right too.

tethersend · 12/04/2012 20:29

Right- I missed last weeks' episode and haven't time to watch it now before tonight's... Can anyone give me an update of what happened last week?

tethersend · 12/04/2012 20:30

Where are my manners?

Please Grin

tethersend · 12/04/2012 21:05

Late hopeful bump

randomimposter · 13/04/2012 07:39

Did anyone else sob like a loon at the end Blush...?

NanBullen · 13/04/2012 09:51

Oh i enjoyed that. poor Orla! She just got ignored didn't she? Sad

Can't believe Lily and Alan were still together, surely she didn't really love him?

ToastofWar · 13/04/2012 09:56

Tethers, you may have already done this by now, but last weeks will still be on iplayer.

I was a bit dissapointed at the end. I knew it would be Orla as she just got on with living whilst the others had all sorts of dramas going on.

And I don't think they cast the right actor for the older Jack either, although have no suggestions for who should have played him Hmm.

Hattytown · 13/04/2012 09:57

Me!!

Some of that was because the series was over though. I can't remember when I last loved a series so much - probably This Life oddly enough or maybe Our Friends in the North.

How typical of Slimy Jack to claim amnesia about his own part in Orla having to ask her brother to leave. Great casting to get Michael Kitchen playing the older version of him - does anyone remember how gorgeous that actor was when younger?

I wondered whether 22 years was long enough for them all to really put aside past grievances though? Especially as some of the injuries inflicted had lifelong consequences e.g. Charlie left to bring up Emma on her own, although it sounded as though Victor had forged his own relationship with Emma, despite no contact with her mother.

BooMagoo · 13/04/2012 11:59

Excellent! I nearly missed this, and have watched the whole lot back-to-back,on iplayer. It was a bit of a stretch of the imagination casting Juliet Stevenson,as an older Charly. You can't fault her acting though.

diddl · 13/04/2012 15:19

Well I guess what happened to Orla-being blamed by her parents for her brother´s death kind of put everyone elses problems into perspective!

I enjoyed it.

Lily & Charlotte both as bad as each other really-and all over the waste of space Jack-who surprise, surprise turned into his dad.

Was rather hoping he would be disinherited!

Clawdy · 13/04/2012 16:11

What else happened? What about Alan and Lily?were they together at the end? who did Jack end up with?

Ragwort · 13/04/2012 16:17

Hattytown - agree with you that this has been one of the best series on TV since Our Friends in the North (we got that out on DVD recently and enjoyed re-watching it) Smile.

Clawdy - Alan and Lily stayed together, seeme to do well financially; the programme didn't really show who Jack ended up with, some pretty young woman was shown briefly with their baby son when he was having a bit of a heart to heart with Charlotte.

NowWeKnow · 13/04/2012 16:30

I also thought this was extremely good. The storyline stayed on track and didn't become improbable. So many times I start watching whatever the newest series is and I find I lose interest because the characters/story don't pan out, but this kept me hooked and developed well.

I thought at times it was a bit This Life, which is no bad thing, I loved that too (one of the actors from that was in this I think).

diddl · 13/04/2012 16:43

The guy who played the older Jay was Ferdy in This Like & the older Alan was Egg´s dad.
