Anyone else can't get this out of their head? Admittedly I'm in a hormonal post-birth fug, but I keep thinking about the plot and getting very tearful. I love the how, I think it's brilliantly written, but last night's episode might have gone too far for me...

I'd never seen Scott & Bailey before last night, but after a few minutes of half-watching, I was completely gripped! Like you though, I can't stop thinking about it, had nasty dreams last night too!! Is it usually a little more tame?

A bit more tame usually, but they're a serious crimes squad (as opposed to a comedy crimes squad) or something, aren't they? It's usually just a good old murder though.

Brilliant series - love DCI whatsit even though I don't like her too. Confused

I think the series is fantastic. I have worked in this field (though thankfully never investigated the death of a child) and I have to say it is a breath of fresh air to see the dominant strong female characters portrayed.

I know it was very upsetting, but I think they have to show something of the reality of the situation if you are going to cover the issue. I did notice that they didn't go into specifics about the sexual assault aspect which I think was deliberate.

I know that after having my first DD I couldn't talk to a friend about her job in child-protection. I think post-birth hormones do make us more sensitive. It does get better, but of course these portrayals will always be upsetting. You might need to be more selective of your viewing for a while.
