I'd forgotten all about this case

yes. I'm amazed they're able to show all this cctv footage, and interviews with men involved, when the case hasnt yet gone to trial, even though its not in this country.

megapixels · 29/03/2012 21:54

I felt sick watching some of it. Poor woman.

megapixels · 29/03/2012 22:01

It doesn't seem as 100% clearcut as I thought it was. That Shrien is guilty I mean.

JasperJohns · 29/03/2012 22:03

I watched it. Have absolutely no idea whether he's guilty but that poor woman. What a terrifying and horrific end.

BrightnessFalls · 29/03/2012 22:13

It was horrific. Still as clear as mud, really.

I can understand why he doesn't want to go to SA to face trial. Even if he's completely innocent. It was blindingly obvious he isn't going to be getting a fair trial.

BrightnessFalls · 30/03/2012 10:59

Im watching it now. I dont know what to think. He's got no chance if he goes over there, thats for sure.

It was so awful seeing the last evening of her life like that. The poor girl and her family, it was heartbreaking to listen to her father.

There were just so many odd things, like why did the taxi driver just give himself up when he wasn't even a suspect? And why, when they were on an expensive honeymoon, did they get an illegal taxi in the first place? Its all very strange and deeply sad.

BrightnessFalls · 30/03/2012 11:48

It can't be that good an actor, surely? None of it makes any sense. I agree, it was really uncomfortable viewing.

I watched the first part but don't understand how it can be shown without affecting the trial in any way.

whatkungfuthat · 30/03/2012 12:19

I suppose its because it didn't draw any conclusions and the CCTV is in the public domain so anyone can see it.

MrsBethel · 30/03/2012 12:35

It seems just as likely to me that he was scheming to the cabbie about something else, and then got stitched up by the cabbie and his mates. There's any number of reasons you'd chat with a cabbie you've hired for a holiday, with murder pretty low down the list of likely explanations.

The only thing that seems clear is that the cabbie, the middleman and the two attackers are all lying.

What the truth is, who knows?

Having said all that, who'd fancy their chances in a South African court given the version of events that the police and locals agreed upon?

BrightnessFalls · 30/03/2012 13:14

He could've been planning a surprise for her. We will never know. I feel so sorry for her family.

I know, her poor sister who talked her round when she was having cold feet about the wedding Sad

chipstick10 · 30/03/2012 19:32

Why did he marry her when clearly he is gay? Poor woman and her poor family they are heartbroken.

BrightnessFalls · 30/03/2012 22:48

I dont know why he did. Maybe he felt pressured to?
